Premier League quartet now want to sign world-stopping Liverpool star

Liverpool are expected to go through yet another rebuild this summer.

Most people thought that Richard Hughes' job as the Reds' sporting director would be fairly simple this summer but, after they only just managed to qualify for the Champions League, it's clear that change is still needed.

Players such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak could also help the Anfield outfit out a bit more by actually performing to the level that everyone knows they can.

However, in order for Liverpool to do this, some sales may have to be made so that they can garner enough funds to sign these players.

Liverpool have always been a sell-to-buy club and, since they spent over £450 million last summer, some sales will almost certainly have to be made to make ends meet.

So, the fact that one of the Reds' players now has four Premier League clubs interested in signing him will be music to their ears.

Coventry, Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Sunderland all want to sign Harvey Elliott this summer

After Harvey Elliott left Liverpool last summer, most people expected the 2024-25 season to be his last as a Liverpool player.

The Reds had agreed a season-long loan deal with Aston Villa for Elliott during the 2025-26 campaign with their obligation to buy being activated after the Englishman played 10 games for the Villans.

This was seen as an excellent move for the youngster with the Europe League winners even handing him the number nine shirt.

However, for one reason or another, Unai Emery decided that he didn't want to sign Elliott permanently which led to him only playing nine games of football despite being described as a world stopping player during the Under-21 Euros in the summer.

If Arne Slot was still the manager of Liverpool, Elliott would have already been sold but, now that Iraola is at the helm, he's giving him a chance to prove his worth before deciding on his future.

However, the Spaniard's indecisiveness over Elliott's future has allowed several clubs to enter the race for the Englishman this summer.

That is, if an update from Football Insider is to be believed.

"Elliott has previously impressed at Liverpool and has extensive experience in the Champions League, so is an attractive option for several smaller clubs this summer," they wrote.

"Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Leeds are interested in Elliott, and he would seemingly be open to a move if Liverpool look to sell.

"Crystal Palace and Sunderland have also been tipped to try and sign the 23-year-old this summer, while Football Insider's sources have indicated that Coventry are also keen on Elliott."

Since so many players have already exited Liverpool this summer, the lack of depth among their ranks is slowly becoming a massive problem.

With how many games teams play per season, the more players that teams have among their ranks, the better.

Versatility is also a major part of recruitment these days as, if an injury crisis occurs, teams want players who can cover multiple areas of the pitch so that they don't have to pay multiple players for separate positions.

However, Elliott's case is a bit of a strange one. The young Englishman was Jurgen Klopp's star boy and he was named in almost ever single one of his team sheets.

But, when Slot took over, the now 23-year-old was cast aside and was more or less forgotten about completely.

This came as a bit of a shock to Liverpool's fanbase but, since Liverpool's midfield was rather lacklustre during the 2025-26 campaign, it feels like now could be the perfect time for him to prove his worth.

That is, especially since he can also be used as a right-winger if needed.

So, with all of this in mind, it actually feels like it'd be harder for Iraola to not find a place for Elliott in his first-team squad despite all of the interest currently being shown in him.
