Mohamed Salah is now teaming up with a Liverpool target. It's a shock deal and one that could transform his new side.

Mo Salah left Liverpool in the summer and he's now a Trabzonspor player. Though, things haven't started particularly well and the Turkish side are in a bit of turmoil.

The Egyptian has started two league matches for his new club and that part of it is going well. He's scored two in one and one in the other - literally all of Trabzonspor's goals. Unfortunately, the most recent ended in a 2-1 defeat.

And that was on the back of an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Hungarian side Ferencvaros, which knocked them out of the UEFA Europa League and into the UEFA Conference League. That certainly wasn't the plan.

Coach Fatih Tekke quit as a result and now Trabzonspor are rebuilding a bit. But they have started that process with a monster signing.

They're the ones to get Franculino Dju from FC Midtjylland. The striker has been a wanted man across Europe for the last couple of years, but an injury last season derailed his hype - and the number of clubs willing to take a chance on him.

Sacha Tavolieri was one of the first to the deal, reporting that he moves for around €25m up front with €5m in addons. It's a massive one for Trabzonspor and they land a Liverpool target with the transfer.

Liverpool were quite extensively linked with Franculino at one stage and they certainly scouted him numerous times. And why wouldn't they? He's been the standout player in Denmark for a few years now and arguably the standout player outside the top eight or so leagues.

Our Value Adder model has him down as having the greatest per-90 attacking rating of any player across the winter leagues. Joint-highest with Harry Kane, in fact.

That's the level of player Trabzonspor hope to pair with Salah. Franculino is a potential star in the making and we imagine Liverpool with have a very close eye on how he develops in Turkey.

Because if he carries his form over - or anything remotely like it - we imagine those links will rapidly return.
