Manchester City in ‘final stages’ to sign Liverpool midfielder

Liverpool are expected to lose a highly promising midfielder to Manchester City.

Over the course of the summer, the Reds' influence has grown at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola appointed Pep Lijnders as his assistant, who spent many years at Liverpool.

Lijnders worked at the Reds' academy and then found his way to working as an assistant to Jurgen Klopp. Now he has taken up that role at City, and it'll be Guardiola benefitting from Lijnders' work,

Lijnders was not the only former Red to join City. Kolo Toure has also joined the club as a coach, and while he also played at Manchester City, he did have a few special seasons at Liverpool as well.

He's regarded as a cult figure at Anfield but again, he'll be at Manchester City for the considerable future.

Over the last few years, it's mostly been Liverpool who have poached promising players from their rivals.

There's no denying this is a blow to Liverpool. You don't want to lose a player of Moss' quality to a rival.

Yes, a lot can happen at such a young age. There's no guarantees when it comes to young players. Man City are banking on talent and potential here.
