Andy Robertson is joining Tottenham.

The 32-year-old had been at Liverpool since 2017 - winning everything there is to win in the club game. The Scotland captain is a firm fan favourite at Anfield - but Richard Hughes decided not to offer him a new contract.

Earning £160k per week Robbo’s contract runs out at the end of June and he has decided on a move to Spurs. The writing was on the wall following Milos Kerkez’s arrival from Bournemouth in summer 2025.

The Hungarian cost £40m and given his age it is now expected that he will be the starting left-back for many years ahead.

Robertson leaves

And with Robertson leaving it opens the door for a new left-back to provide cover and competition.

According to a report on Sky Sports Liverpool decision-makers including Andoni Iraola are ready to wipe the slate clean - and give a chance to Kostas Tsimikas.

The Greek left-back moved to Roma on loan last summer following Kerkez’s arrival. But the Italian capital club won’t be signing the 30-year-old on a permanent basis - paving the way for a return to Merseyside.

Tsimikas likely to get a chance

“Kostas Tsimikas' return from his loan at Roma could ease the urgency to bring in a left-back replacement for the departing Andy Robertson if he impresses,” the report reads.

“All players will have a clean slate under Iraola, which is potentially good news for Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.”

Tsimikas arrived in 2020 from Olympiakos but never really came close to displacing Robertson at left-back.

Tsimikas loan didn't work out

His loan move to Roma was supposed to herald the end of his Liverpool career but the Greece international is coming back to give it another shot.

Tsimikas’ task may well be to win another contract with his current deal expiring in 2027. Liverpool will want to protect his value and avoid his loss on a free transfer and so a decent preseason under Iraola could prove very beneficial for both player and club.
