€100m Yan Diomande transfer decision now just weeks away
Liverpool are set for a radical overhaul of their forward line this summer.
The outgoing Premier League champions are LOSING Mohamed Salah on a free transfer - with the Egyptian King reaching an agreement with Richard Hughes to cut up his £400k per week contract a year early.
He will be joined in the departures lounge by Federico Chiesa - who last week disclosed that he would love a return to Juventus in Serie A.
There are question marks on the other side of attack too with Cody Gakpo reportedly the subject of interest from Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.
Rio Ngumoha meanwhile has some explaining to do following claims he gave a green light to a contract with Bayern Munich.
Yan Diomande a priority for Liverpool
Wide attackers with one-v-one quality have long been seen as the priority for sporting director Hughes. And that focus won’t change after a change of head coach which sees Andoni Iraola in the hotseat.
The Anfield side are still expected to contest the signature of Yan Diomande - the prodigious 19-year-old from RB Leipzig.
Liverpool will have their work cut out to achieve any deal for the young Cote d’Ivoire international. Paris Saint-Germain have been recently installed as favourites to land the €100m-rated talent although it’s not been decided if he will leave Leipzig.
The German side have contracted Diomande until 2030 following his £18m arrival from Leganes last summer. And having qualified for the UEFA Champions League the Red Bull-owned outfit remain in total control of his transfer destiny.
No Diomande deal until AFTER FIFA World Cup
Winwin is now carrying quotes from a source close to the emerging African superstar - claiming that there has so far been no contact between Liverpool and Diomande.
"Liverpool have not made any offers so far to sign Diomande,” the report reads.
“There is nothing from Liverpool towards the player."
Diomande and his Ivorian teammate are currently preparing for their first FIFA World Cup fixture against Ecuador on June 15.
Although it has been previously suggested that Liverpool or PSG would seek to tie up a quick deal for Diomande it looks like NO decision will be made until Les Elephants’ participation at the World Cup is at an end.
"Many clubs are interested in signing him, but he is focused on playing in the World Cup with Ivory Coast, and he refuses to discuss anything related to his future at the moment,” the report adds.
“Nothing will happen until his participation in the World Cup with his national team is over." Emerse Fae’s side play their final group stage game on June 25 - meaning a decision on Diomande’s future remains at least three weeks away.
