Liverpool have a confirmed dream forward in mind to replace Mo Salah
Liverpool have decided to rip up Mohamed Salah’s £400k per week deal one year early.
The Egyptian King, 33, was originally due to remain on Merseyside until 2027. Following a difficult campaign - which featured a high-profile fallout with Arne Slot - Salah will be free to find a new club this summer.
It brings into focus Liverpool’s crucial choice of which player will come to replace the goal-getter. There have been several top wingers linked - such as Bradley Barcola and Yan Diomande.
But one candidate stands out above all others for decision-makers at Anfield.
Liverpool want Olise to replace Salah
According to a report in Football Insider the Premier League champions see Michael Olise of Bayern Munich as their dream right-wing signing.
The Frenchman has been in sensational form since swapping Crystal Palace for Bayern back in summer 2024 for only £53m.
Under contract until 2029 Bayern are very well protected if any sides - such as Liverpool - make an attempt to bring the 24-year-old back to the Premier League.
Olise won the plaudits during last week’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg win against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu - mesmerising Los Blancos on their own turf.
However Liverpool will be forced to look elsewhere for their Salah replacement as the report claims Bayern will not sell under any circumstances.
Bayern will not sell Olise
“Michael Olise remains the dream signing for Liverpool in their efforts to replace Mohamed Salah,” the report reads.
“Bayern Munich have no intention of losing Olise and will rebuff any advances.
“Liverpool’s transfer plans will be dealt a blow by Bayern’s stance, which could force them to look elsewhere in search of a replacement for Salah.”
Olise - previously reported to have a release clause in his Bayern contract - will therefore be staying put for now. But if he declines to sign a new deal - with Bayern keen to offer him a pay rise - then it could mean a move to Liverpool comes back into focus.
The Bavarians do not want to be stuck with a depreciating asset and could be forced to accept a deal in transfer windows upcoming.
Liverpool may however be feeling a certain degree of transfer regret over the France international forward.
Olise was linked with Liverpool when his Palace career was coming to an end - but no great push was made on the part of the Anfield side to get him to Merseyside.
