These are uncertain times for several Liverpool forwards.

The signings of Bradley Barcola and potentially one more winger will have an impact. Andoni Iraola won’t be able to accommodate an abundance of wide options - particularly when he gets these deals over the line by the end of transfer deadline day.

Barcola comes on board from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of £123m. Deals are still alive for the likes of Ismaila Sarr, Yankuba Minteh and also for Pedro Neto.

Chiesa linked with Serie A return

Liverpool’s frontline - already strengthened by the acquisition of Victor Munoz in a £34m deal from Osasuna - is going to look very different by Wednesday morning.

Cody Gakpo is likely to be a Manchester City player with a deal worth £85m edging towards a conclusion. And movement is expected for Harvey Elliott too - with the 23-year-old wanted by Valencia and a host of other clubs.

One man who looks set to be SPARED - for this transfer window at least - is Federico Chiesa.

Liverpool now look set to keep Chiesa around

The 28-year-old was signed from Juventus for £12.5m back in 2024. But his Anfield career has been a washout on a personal level - with Chiesa not taking his opportunity to impress Andoni Iraola in preseason.

The Italian international has been heavily linked with a return to the peninsula - with teams such as Inter Milan and Roma thought to be keen.

His £150k per week pay packet is a drawback however with Richard Hughes also insisting on a fee.

Liverpool want Chiesa to cover Ekitike absence

Currently injured Chiesa hasn’t featured in the Premier League thus far and was initially tipped to exit by deadline day. According to a report in the Liverpool Echo however it looks as though he will be kept around until January at least.

Federico Chiesa might yet be the subject of approaches from Serie A but with Hugo Ekitike out until at least the end of the calendar year, the the forward might yet be kept around for back up to Isak,” the report reads.

Ekitike ruptured his ACL in a Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain towards the end of last season. He isn’t expected back until around Christmastime - with Alexander Isak the main No9 option besides the Frenchman.

Chiesa can however play there in a bind - meaning that he will have some utility for Iraola until Ekitike is back fit at least.
