Liverpool in ADVANCED approach for star international forward
Liverpool made an 'advanced' approach for a star international forward. It's one that could eventually land the player at Anfield.
Liverpool overhauled their attack in the summer with around £300m in transfers. Florian Wirtz was first, breaking the club record fee and becoming the first nine-figure signing for the Reds.
Then Hugo Ekitike followed. He became the most expensive striker in Liverpool's history, costing around £80m from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The transfer window closed with the big one. Alexander Isak moved to Anfield from Newcastle United, costing a new British transfer record fee of around £120m.
It was an incredible outlay but Liverpool are not done rebuilding their attack. For one, Luis Diaz left the club and wasn't replaced, while the Reds certainly lack a winger who could take over from Mo Salah.
Maybe they've found one, though, and he's at Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool approach for Bradley Barcola
Journalist Fabrice Hawkins tells Le10Sport that Liverpool made an 'advanced' approach for Bradley Barcola along with Bayern Munich. He apparently considered both strongly before deciding to remain with PSG.
But Barcola is frustrated at the club. Khvara Kvaratskhelia immediately took his place in the pecking order there, while Desire Doué has since done the same.
It means Barcola may need a transfer elsewhere is he wants to play regular first-team football and there can be little question that he's good enough for that. Good enough to do it at the elite level, too.
Now, it's not as though Barcola is a squad player. He's started eight of PSG's 12 Ligue 1 games this season but he isn't considered one of the stars - and that could force him out.
The suggestion from Hawkins is that Barcola's contract situation is one to watch. If he doesn't renew, PSG will look to sell and the player will want to force a move through to a club that wants him in a major role.
Liverpool may well be that club as they hunt for a new winger. The previous approach certainly suggests that they see him in a role like that and we don't think any of the subsequent signings would change that.
Another major transfer incoming, then? Watch this space.
