Aggressive Liverpool close in on astronomical Yan Diomande deal
Liverpool want to sign Yan Diomande in the upcoming transfer window.
It would appear inevitable that Richard Hughes gets involved in the bidding for the €130m (£112m) Cote d’Ivoire international winger.
The outgoing Premier League champions have been tracking the forward for quite some time - with reports first linking Diomande with an Anfield move appearing last October.
The 19-year-old first moved to RB Leipzig last summer from Leganes for a bargain fee of only £18m. But he took to life in the Bundesliga with relish - scoring 13 goals in his debut season and catapulting himself into the reckoning for a move to a bigger club.
Liverpool leading the race for Yan Diomande
Under contract until 2030 RB Leipzig are in total control over Diomande’s future and are even expected to hand him a new contract when he’s back from the FIFA World Cup.
Liverpool’s desire to sign him is also complicated by the presence of rivals in the race. Paris Saint-Germain want to sign the emerging African superstar - and is a fantastic destination for young wingers.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich may also come into the equation - but the Bavarians are not keen to pay so much for his signature.
Nonetheless a report in Fussball Daten provides some clear hope for Liverpool fans hoping to sign Diomande.
Liverpool blow PSG out of the water
Because it states that the Anfield side are now close to signing Diomande on a blockbuster package that will blow what PSG offer out of the water.
Liverpool have been in close contact with Diomande’s entourage and are preparing to hand the youngster a mammoth contract on Merseyside.
With Mohamed Salah leaving we could see the sporting director Richard Hughes hand a huge portion of the Egyptian King’s salary to Diomande.
Astronomical deal for Diomande moves closer
“The club pushing most aggressively in this race to secure Diomande a starting spot is undoubtedly Liverpool,” the report reads.
“The English giants are close to completing the transfer, having maintained almost daily contact with the player's representatives since last winter's transfer window.
“The Merseyside club has identified this signing as their top priority for the new season.
“With an astronomical wage package in hand to entice the player and a significantly strengthened position regarding his personal terms, Liverpool currently hold pole position in the transfer battle.
“Reports also suggest that legendary club executives have been directly involved in the negotiations to further increase the pressure.”
That last point is interesting. Who could it be?
Either way it looks like we are moving closer to a resolution and hopefully before long Yan Diomande will be a Liverpool player.
