There's a new manager, new players and even new minority shareholders. It's a real changing of the guard. So far, we haven't really got to see a lot of new players coming in, or even find out what these new changes mean.

However, there's a genuine feeling that the next two weeks before the window shuts close will still have significant changes.

It's Hughes' last opportunity to leave his legacy in tact at Anfield. Sure, he played a role in appointing the manager who would secure Liverpool's second Premier League title in the last six years, but he also contributed to leaving Arne Slot with a really imbalanced squad last season.

The signings Hughes brought in last summer could still come good in the long-term. Right now though Hughes will be leaving with a lot of Liverpool fans feeling indifferent about his departure.

In the next two weeks, he will be focusing on making sure, he leaves on a high and with his mission completed.

The big mission will be to rejuvenate Liverpool's attack. Hughes needs to inject pace and he needs to replace Mo Salah in the squad.

So far, that mission has had a few setbacks. Yan Diomande was the primary target to replace the Egyptian but we know how that ended.

Diomande is at Real Madrid now and Liverpool have been forced into pivoting.

On top of this, Hughes may not only need to replace Salah but Cody Gakpo as well.

Tottenham are now really making an attempt to try to bring the Dutchman to the capital and Liverpool are increasingly open to the idea.

It would mean losing the players who contributed the most in terms of goals and assists to Liverpool's title winning campaign back in 2024/25.

But with Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz coming in, new type of wide attackers are necessary in order to facilitate and bring the best out of the big money duo.

That is going to require more runners in behind opposition defences and more intensity off the ball.

Interestingly, Liverpool's main two targets to replace Gakpo and Salah are two Paris Saint Germain players.

Bradley Barcola has long been courted by the club meanwhile Ibrahim Mbaye has emerged as an ideal solution to Liverpool's right-wing problems.

Both players obviously played a key role for PSG last season and they appeared to be an important part of the French side's success over the course of the previous campaign.

However, it has now become apparent that both players are being replaced.

PSG have already signed Maghnes Akliouche earlier on in the window.

Now they have confirmed a double deal on Saturday, first confirming the arrival of Ferran Torres before also confirming the signing of Mika Godts.

That is amazing news for Liverpool and it puts them a step closer to securing both Barcola and Mbaye considering there is now room for them to leave.
