Liverpool starlet pleads with Andoni Iraola for chance to shine
Liverpool's academy has always been one of their greatest assets.
Several Premier League greats such as Steven Gerrard, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jamie Carragher all battled their way through the youth ranks to make names for themselves in the first-team.
And, even though Arne Slot wasn't the biggest fan of using youth players, they have still produced some exceptional talent.
However, now that Andoni Iraola is the head coach, his trust in youngsters has been made more than clear during his time as Bournemouth's manager.
And, seeing as though he's the man at the helm for Liverpool now, some of the Reds' most talented youngsters could be given another chance to prove their worth with one particular player seemingly pleading for a chance to make a name for himself.
Kieran Morrison is hoping that he heavily features in Andoni Iraola's pre-season plans
One of the only youth players that Slot trusted was Kieran Morrison.
The attacker has been a regular member of the Dutchman's matchday squads with the Northern Ireland international even being given a game or two.
In those outings, he's proven that he deserves to be there and that he can hold his own if needed.
However, since he's only 19 years old, there's still a bit of time before he's going to be a regular member of Iraola's starting XI.
But, that hasn't stopped the youngster from making his case while away on international duty with Northern Ireland.
"[The last 10 months have] been great individually," he said to the Belfast Telegraph.
"I had a good season with the 21s and also played in the first-team, and then signing the new contract gave me more confidence. Liverpool have shown belief in me.
"Hopefully, I’ll get whatever minutes I can against France, then I’ll have a little break mentally and a little holiday, then I’ll come back for pre-season. Hopefully, I’ll be with the new manager (Iraola) in pre-season a lot.
"With Andoni Iraola, I know that he trusts youngsters.
"He did it at Bournemouth and hopefully, he can do it with me. We’ll just see what happens in pre-season."
Liverpool could solve some of their problems by promoting their youth players
Liverpool are currently gearing themselves up for another expensive summer transfer window.
Last summer, the club spent over £450 million trying to improve their ranks but, in reality, they've come out much worse off.
Indeed, injuries need to be taken into account but, even with the injuries they suffered, a team of Liverpool's calibre should've had a club full of back-ups to prevent any downward turn in form.
Some of Liverpool's youngsters such as Morrison, Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni could all have important roles to play this term, if they're given the chance to do so.
If not, the Reds will probably have to spend an obscene amount of money on new players which, if we're being honest, is the last thing that they'll want to do.
