Liverpool set to bank €100m for star forward
Liverpool always try to get the best deal they can and Richard Hughes is a tough negotiator.
Arne Slot has told us in the past about how strategic Liverpool were in their pursuit of him to become their new head coach and all of the right questions were asked to tempt the Dutchman to move.

When it comes to bringing in players, Slot is now one of the main negotiators, showcasing his project for the club and giving players a clear idea of what their involvement would be to bring success.

In terms of player sales, however, Hughes is still heavily involved and tiny little details in agreements such as sell-on clauses and buy-back clauses are massive for us to keep the upper hand in deals.
Luis Diaz to Bayern was a better deal than we thought
The Colombian's departure to Bayern Munich was polarising for some fans, given how important he was to the team last season and in general his 22 goal contributions were a reasonable return.
But since he was 28 years old and nearing the end of his contract, with Liverpool unwilling to offer him a new deal, the opportunity to sell was not something the Reds could turn down, especially not for the £65m (€75m) package that the Germans offered. It's was an extraordinary deal to agree.

Cody Gakpo and up and coming talent Rio Ngumoha will be able to lock-down the left-hand side of the attack this season in his absence and the club's net transfer spend fell massively as a result.
Furthermore, new signing Hugo Ekitike has also proved that he can play on the left-wing occasionally, although his main role will be playing as a striker, potentially alongside Alexander Isak.
However, it appears as though the deal Liverpool secured for Diaz might have been better than we thought, with Hughes pulling off yet another masterclass in the negotiations with some bonus details.
According to Bayern Space, an X account that was incredibly reliable during Liverpool's saga with Bayer Leverkusen when Florian Wirtz's future was being decided, we have a sell-on clause with Diaz.
In their latest update, it said: "From inside Bayern, there is quiet recognition that the Luis Diaz transfer was orchestrated entirely on Liverpool's terms, with Bayern left to follow along.
"Richard Hughes controlled the negotiations from start to finish, setting the framework early and never letting go of the upper hand.
"Hughes quickly secured clear signals from the Diaz entourage that the player would be open to a move to Saudi Arabia in the near future. Armed with that assurance, Liverpool insisted on a significant sell-on clause that would allow them to benefit substantially from any future transfer.
"Bayern, facing internal pressure to deliver a name and lacking serious alternatives, accepted the structure as it was presented... The full 81 million [euros] is already being treated as a formality. With the sell-on clause factored in, the total fee Liverpool could receive may rise to 95 or 100 million euros if a high-value transfer occurs, which is viewed internally as a likely outcome."

Of course, this is all subject to confirmation from a reliable news outlet, but a lot of the information presented during the Wirtz saga was accurate, so take this with a pinch of salt, but not a handful.
€100m (£87m) would be an extraordinary amount for Liverpool to potentially take home from the deal if his Saudi ambitions come to fruition in a few years and since the Reds only paid £37.5m in 2022.
As you'd expect, Hughes is going to squeeze every last cent out of a deal that involves Liverpool, but even by his standards, this is an exceptional piece of business. We really do have the best around.
