A sensational manager has confirmed he's ready to join Liverpool.

The Reds' season under Arne Slot has been very disappointing to say the least.

After a damaging defeat to Aston Villa, the Reds headed into the final game of the season knowing they needed to somehow get a result against Brentford to guarantee a place in the Champions League next season.

In the end, a 1-1 draw was enough to get the job over the line.

In previous years, such a scenario would have felt routine for a club of Liverpool’s size and reputation. This season, however, has been far from ordinary. What initially appeared to be a promising new era under the Dutchman has instead unravelled into one of the club’s most difficult seasons in recent memory.

Liverpool have already suffered 20 defeats across all competitions, an alarming total that underlines the dramatic decline in standards and consistency. Given the scale of their struggles, the fact they remain in contention for a Champions League place is surprising in itself.

Much of the criticism has naturally focused on Slot.

His tactical decisions, in-game management and inability to stabilise performances during difficult periods have all come under scrutiny. While injuries and inconsistent form among players have contributed to the problems, many supporters believe the manager has failed to maximise the squad’s potential.

With pressure continuing to grow, speculation surrounding Slot’s future is intensifying, and calls for change from sections of the fanbase are becoming increasingly louder.

For now, Liverpool are sticking with Slot. But for how long? That remains to be seen.

The pressure is so intense on the Dutchman even just one bad result could be detrimental for him next season.

Sure, Liverpool will strengthen in the summer. However, if he can't get a few wins over the line and the same results remain then Slot's future is going to be very short.

Even long-term his contract is expiring in the summer of 2027, so there's just one year left before Liverpool are going to have to find another manager.

And one man has just made himself a candidate.

Pierre Sage.

You haven't heard of him. Don't worry, most people have not. But chances are if you follow European football you have seen how well RC Lens have done this season.

They've finished second in Ligue 1, pushing Paris Saint Germain in the title race and then won the French Cup, beating Nice 3-1 in the final of the competition.

All of that has been thanks to Sage, who has transformed the French side while giving young players a chance like Mamadou Sangare and Ismaelo Ganiou.

Only 47-years-old, he's a bit of a late comer when it comes to management. He worked at Lyon's academy for many years, going through the ladder to even manage the first-team and help them out of trouble before joining Lens.

Now in an interview with Telefoot, Sage was asked if he had a dream destination, somewhere he'd want to manage in the future.

And he said: 'A club that makes me dream is Liverpool.'

That's a come and get me plea. And if Sage continues his work at Lens, he could become a really nice fit for Liverpool even next season perhaps when the inevitable happens and the Reds will need to find a successor for Slot.
