Liverpool receive fresh approach for Jurgen Klopp favourite, he's gone

A lot of Liverpool's firs-team squad have been linked with moves away this summer.

Last season, the Reds had a massive clear-out which saw them raise over £200 million in sales which allowed them to fun deals for players such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.

On paper, it looked like one of the best transfer windows of all time with all of their problem positions sorted apart from their midfield.

However, thanks to injuries and a lack of form, that was far from the case with Arne Slot leading his men to a fifth-place finish.

This poor outing led fans to demand that changes were made and now, it looks like one of Jurgen Klopp's favourite players from his time as Liverpool manager could be on his way out of the club.

Valencia have contacted Liverpool about Harvey Elliott's future again

Harvey Elliott is a curious case.

Under Klopp, he was seen as one of Liverpool's best players.

His versatility was unmatched and, his performances often made him seem much older than he actually was.

However, after Slot took the reins, he dropped further and further down the pecking order which led to him seeking a new club at the start of the 2025-26 season.

He ended up joining Aston Villa but, again, things didn't quite work out which has led the Englishman to where he is now.

Decisions are still being made about his future but, thanks to an update from Spanish journalist Nacho Sanchis, it seems like the 23-year-old could already be on his way to Valencia.

"VCF has made a new formal call to Liverpool today for Harvey Elliott," he shared via X.

"The club has increased the % of the player's wages they are willing to cover and is trying to make the salary fit by any means necessary because he is the player who offers the most guarantees.

"An important issue: if Harvey Elliott comes, salary-wise he would take up a lot and that would make the arrival of another player more complicated. This is being debated internally.

"Ramazani is advancing with Burnley at the expense of a last-minute call from VCF."

Harvey Elliott hasn't got a future at Liverpool

The 2026-27 pre-season was likely to be Elliott's last chance of making a career for himself at Liverpool.

As mentioned, a new manager came in which meant that every single player was on a clean slate.

Some managed to make it work while others, such as Elliott and Federico Chiesa failed to meet expectations once again.

Most people thought his days with the Reds were over last term when he joined Aston Villa but, at the age of 23, it feels like he's already being given an ultimatum for the future of his career.

With Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike and now Bradley Barcola among Liverpool's ranks, Elliott's favoured number 10 position is locked out by so many other players.

And, even though he may think he's as good or better than some of them, there's no way that he's going to be getting a look-in.

Obviously, it's sad to see the career of a youngster go this way but, sometimes that's the way that things go and now, it's his time to pick himself back up and prove his worth.

Otherwise, he's going to be in a bit of bother next term.
