Liverpool on the brink of 'historic' transfer, announcement now imminent
Liverpool are closing in on a historic transfer if the latest reports are to be believed.
Well, the transfer window isn't even open at the moment, and yet a sensational move could be on the cards a little bit early.
It's very much a new era at the club. FSG seem to be taking a backseat with new consortium coming in through 1892 Holdings who have become a significant minority stakeholder within the club.
On top of that, Julian Ward has been appointed as the man in charge of the proceedings. He's going to be the club's new sporting director as he returns from a role he left in 2023.
He's been at the club since 2024, working behind the scenes but now he's going to step-up and do what he was successful at before but this time without the interference of Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool's exciting plans under Julian Ward
In his previous role at the club Ward has been chiefly in charge of negotiating deals for young players. He's been handling negotiations for the club's leading stars and has also been a key part of the recruitment process.
Under Ward, Liverpool's have signed a fair few wonderkids.
Mor Talla Ndiaye, Armin Pecsi, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Samuel Martinez, Lucca Brughmans and Djylian N'Guessan are just a few of those who have already been recruited.
Working closely with Pedro Marques, Ward is planning on bringing in a lot more. The situation of Daniel Banjaqui is one to watch. Meanwhile, Diego Pelembe is highly rated as well.
But there's another generational star who could also be heading to Liverpool.
Liverpool are close to signing Gilberto Mora, announcement is imminent
The Mexican wonderkid caught the eye of the world at the World Cup where he became the youngest player at the tournament.
Despite being 17-years-old, Mora played a key role for Mexico in their run to the knock-out stages of the tournament. The youngster is widely regarded as the next best thing, and the biggest talent in Mexican football possibly of all time.
It's why, it's exciting to hear as per Sport Witness that TUDN journalist David Faitelson has claimed that Liverpool have made a huge offer for the services of Mora.
"It would be a historic figure, above $50m, for Xolos de Tijuana for Mora, who turns 18 next week," Faitelson said.
Now, from the same Sport Witness report, ESPN Mexico journalist León Lecanda seem to confirm the news that an announcement was imminent over the future of Mora with a 'historic agreement' in place:
“I can say that on October 14th, a historic agreement with a big European club for Mora is very likely to be announced, in exchange for an amount that will be the highest ever for a player going from Liga MX to a foreign club."
On top of this, Mora's agent Rafaela Pimenta also refused to deny the rumours when asked about his client's future:
“Please understand that I don’t comment on transfer rumours. I won’t say anything at all about the transfer of any player. Thank you very much for your understanding," she told Record.
You put all three of these reports together and it's easy to connect the dots. Liverpool are clearly the club who have made a concrete offer for Mora. It's a huge offer, and now another journalist is claiming an announcement will be made next week. On top of that, Mora's agent does not deny any of it.
It very much looks like Liverpool are on the brink of completing a historic transfer. Let's wait and see what next week brings.
