Liverpool on alert as Premier League club willing to sell 'special' star
Liverpool's squad feels highly likely to undergo massive changes again during the summer transfer window.
The Anfield outfit have had a lot of questions asked about their performances this season, especially now that they're 6th in the top flight table.
There's not a chance that the Reds will win the Premier League this season but, since they're still in the Champions League and the FA Cup, they still have a chance of adding some silverware to their trophy cabinet.
However, even if they do win either of those competitions, it's clear that changes need to be made across the board as, if we're being honest, the performances that some of Arne Slot's men have been putting in have been appalling.
Many big-name players have already been linked with Anfield switches this summer and now, the door could be opening for Liverpool to sign one of their former transfer targets.
Newcastle are 'willing' to sell Nick Woltemade in the 2026-27 summer transfer window
During the 2025-26 summer transfer window, it was made clear that Liverpool's attack would be their main area of focus when improving their ranks.
Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz were all brought in after Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez were moved on.
However, before Liverpool settled on the aforementioned trio, several other attackers were linked with transfers, including Nick Woltemade.
In the end, the Magpies ended up signing the German as their replacement for Isak but now, according to an update from journalist Alex Crook, it seems like Eddie Howe is now 'willing' to move the "special" 24-year-old on.
"Newcastle would be willing to sell Nick Woltemade at the right price, talkSPORT understands," he wrote.
"Woltemade has been reported to be unhappy at the Magpies, despite only signing for the club six months ago.
"After starting the season as a regular starter, Yoane Wissa's return to fitness and his [Woltemade's] lack of form have led to fewer minutes."
Nick Woltemade would be an interesting signing for Liverpool
While Isak is side-lined due to injury, Ekitike is Liverpool's starting number nine.
The Frenchman has been the Reds' best signing this season but, when Isak returns, it feels like the attacker will be moved onto the left-wing in Cody Gakpo's place.
This would mean that only Isak and Federico Chiesa would be able to play as strikers and, with Chiesa's future still up in the air, it's clear that the Reds' attack is going to undergo some changes once again.
When used as a number nine by Newcastle, Woltemade was one of their best players but, now that he's been moved into their midfield, he's failing to reach the same standards he set at the start of the campaign.
With Liverpool, the former Stuttgart star would likely be Isak's back-up, but, if the Sweden international fails to reach expectations again, the German could get plenty of game time.
Of course, a move is likely to depend on the price that the Magpies want for their striker but, on the face of things, a move for Woltemade makes plenty of sense.
