New Luis Diaz contract: How much he will be earning if deal is signed
Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is out of contract in 2027. He was signed from Porto at the start of 2022 - and remains on the same terms he agreed to back then.
Liverpool are usually quite diligent when it comes to renewals for their top stars but for one reason or another, the Colombian hasn’t got one.

It’s been over THREE years without a pay rise for the 28-year-old - who is known to be keen to renew terms. Diaz is reckoned to be earning £55,000 per week - well beneath the going rate for first-team stars at title-winning clubs.

That stands in stark contrast to Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah for example - now believed to be earning up to £400k a week apiece.
Colombian reports this week suggested that Diaz had laid out his terms for a renewal - wages of around £140k per week.
This is a delicate balancing act for Richard Hughes - the Liverpool sporting director. If he cannot come to an arrangement over a new deal for Diaz then it’s likely he will be sold.
With two years left on his deal - and a Premier League winner’s medal around his beck - he could go for anything up to €80m. There is interest from Saudi Arabia and - potentially - Barcelona but the hard-up Blaugrana will have to offload players first.
Is Diaz's form sustainable?
That all has to be weighed up against another question. Does Diaz deserve a pay rise?
On the evidence of this season, he probably does. He’s Liverpool’s second-highest scorer and their lowest-paid forward.
His performances have easily eclipsed Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota - all reported to be making around three times what Diaz makes.
But how many more seasons like this will Diaz have in him? That’s all for Hughes to ponder as he considers the next step.
Where would Diaz’s contract demands place him in Liverpool pecking order?
Let’s use Capology for comparison.
Mohamed Salah £400k per week
Virgil van Dijk £350k per week
Trent Alexander Arnold £180k per week
Andrew Robertson £160k per week
Alexis Mac Allister £150k per week
Ryan Gravenberch £150k per week
Alisson Becker £150k per week (reported at £210k per week elsewhere)
Federico Chiesa £150k per week
Diogo Jota £140k per week
Darwin Nunez £140k per week
Dominik Szoboszlai £120k per week
Cody Gakpo £120k per week
Joe Gomez £85k per week
Kostas Tsimikas £75k per week
Ibrahima Konate £70k (reported at £140k per week elsewhere)
Giorgi Mamardashvili £60k per week (on loan at Valencia)
Luis Diaz £55k per week
Wataru Endo £50k per week
Harvey Elliott £40k per week
Jarell Quansah £30k per week
Nat Phillips £20k per week (on loan at Derby County)
Curtis Jones £15k per week
Stefan Bajcetic £15k per week (on loan at Las Palmas)
Conor Bradley £10k per week
Caoimhin Kelleher £10k per week
On the above basis, it’s hard to argue that Diaz doesn’t deserve AT LEAST as much as Cody Gakpo - who is probably due a pay rise of his own.
A deal of £140k per week places him on par with the other forwards - Liverpool's ninth-best-paid player. Right now he's as low as 17th. For a player with 16 goals - 12 in the league - that's not really market value.

In terms of “bang for your buck”, Diaz, Curtis Jones, Conor Bradley and Caoimhin Kelleher are punching above their weight. We will have to wait and see how this one plays out.
