Liverpool are making a move to replace Milos Kerkez with a Spanish star if the latest report is to be believed.

The Hungarian is one of the best up and coming young talents in world football. Kerkez has more than proved just how good he can be at Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola and of course at AZ Alkmaar.

Rapid and someone capable of playing the game with great intensity, he has everything you need for a modern day left-back.

The whole fanbase rejoiced when he was signed from Bournemouth over a year ago. It seemed like the perfect next step in his own evolution but also in the metamorphosis of Liverpool.

With Andy Robertson already one foot out the door, Kerkez felt like his natural successor.

Liverpool's issues in the full-back position

There's a real concern though that when it comes to replacing both Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have got things wrong.

And this is not necessarily a criticism on Kerkez but more so on how the recruitment was handled.

On paper, Kerkez is an ideal fit for Liverpool. However, when he has to play in a back-four that involves Jeremie Frimpong, a profile like Kerkez doesn't make a lot of sense.

It's why Andoni Iraola has opted to play Ronald Araujo in the right-back position. However, he might have alternative solutions for the left-back position as well in order to potentially replace Kerkez.

Liverpool making moves to replace Kerkez with Alajendro Balde

According to reporter Juan Jesus, the Reds are going all out in January to sign Balde from Barcelona.

The report claims Iraola has identified Balde as the absolute priority to bolster his options in the winter window.

Balde played 28 times in La Liga for Barcelona last season but he is out of favour just like Araujo. Yet at the same time, the Spaniard is still very young at 22-years-old and he does seem like an interesting profile.

The Barcelona defender is very different to Kerkez. He is more of a left-back in the mould of Araujo at right-back. Someone who thinks defence first and who isn't that effective going forward.

He's someone you could pair alongside Frimpong.

Which may be Iraola's plan going forward. Based on the report at least, it certainly seems like he is keen on Balde.
