Liverpool are reportedly lining up a sensational transfer for just £20m.

There's no denying that Richard Hughes is on a mission to reinforce the Reds' attack in January. Liverpool already lack depth in the area but they are now without Mohamed Salah, who is away at the African Cup of Nations, and Alexander Isak who fractured his lower leg and won't be available for several months.

An injury to Cody Gakpo has also made the team very paper thin, which is on top of losing several key attackers in the summer, most notably Luis Diaz but also Diogo Jota who lost his life in a terrible tragedy alongside his brother. It's a loss that still feels incomprehensible for many around the club.

Signing players in January is always tricky. Hughes has done a stellar job so far in his reign at Anfield though so if anyone can do it, it's the club's current sporting director.

And it looks like he could be eyeing a sensational bargain.

According to Anfield Index Liverpool are preparing a move for Karim Adeyemi, as an alternative to Antoine Semenyo and have made contact to initiate the transfer.

The report claims it is thought that a deal could be done for just £20m, which would be a sensational swoop for a proven German international, who is still only 23-years-old.

Adeyemi has nine goal contributions for Dortmund so far this season and his contract expires in 2027, which means he's entering the last 18 months of his deal.

For Liverpool, this is an opportunity to bring in an attacker still full of potential and a lot of experience. Adeyemi has played 44 games in the Champions League, making 21 goal contributions in the competition.

He has 146 total goal contributions in his senior career to date, which is also an impressive return.

A speedy player, Adeyemi's best ability is that he's versatile. He's left-footed but he can play across the front three and that makes him a really useful back-up attacker to have in the team.

Signing him for £20m would be an absolute bargain. In today's market you're not going to find a player of his ilk for that kind of value.

Obviously, he's not a player who'd go straight into the starting line-up, but coming in at times like this as someone who can provide cover and offer Slot alternative solutions from the bench, Adeyemi is pretty much the perfect choice.

If a deal can indeed be agreed with Dortmund, it would be a sensational one and probably the move of the window for the Reds.
