Liverpool given huge transfer boost in pursuit for ‘superb’ wing wizard

Liverpool need change, and they need it fast.

Manchester City have signed Elliott Anderson for £116 million and Chelsea are about to confirm the transfer of Morgan Rogers for £117 million.

Each of these clubs will be wanting to compete for the title, especially since Arsenal managed to pip each of them to the title during the 2025-26 season.

So, with the amount of new faces being added to the Reds' rivals, it's not surprising to see that they also want to make some changes.

However, with the transfer of Victor Munoz being the only one that has got over the line so far, things are looking a bit bleak in Anfield at the moment.

But, fortunately, there is some good news that has just emerged about the future of Liverpool's squad.

Liverpool may have a chance at signing Bradley Barcola as Paris Saint-Germain haven't offered him new terms for his contract yet

After Liverpool's move for Yan Diomande fell through, Bradley Barcola was their next main target.

However, unlike the Ivory Coast international, he's rarely ever played on the right-wing and, even when he has, he's always looked more comfortable on the left.

And, unless Cody Gakpo is leaving, there's not really much point in the Reds trying to sign another left-winger.

But, this thought process hasn't stopped the Anfield outfit from making their move for the Frenchman with the club actually being handed a boost in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

"Alongside the discussions underway for Diomande, no meeting is planned at this stage between PSG and Bradley Barcola with a view to a new contract extension offer," journalist Abdellah Boulma wrote via his personal X account.

"Paris's latest proposal dates back to last spring."

Barcola is obviously an extremely talented player.

But, with this comes a rather large price tag which is a risk that Liverpool may not want to take.

They broke the British transfer record twice last summer after they chose to sign Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak for a combined total of £241 million.

But, to sign Barcola, they'd probably have to spend slightly more than they did on Isak which is a lot of money, especially since he's only 23 years old.

Indeed, the fact he only has two years left on his current deal should make a move cheaper but, since PSG do not want to sell the Frenchman, they're going to drive a hard bargain and will want to recoup all of the money they're set to splash on bringing Diomande in.

This summer, it feels like the Reds will have a bit of a limited budget after what they spent last term which is why they need to be 100 per cent sure about every transfer they make.

If Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola believe that the "superb" winger is exactly what Liverpool need then they should throw everything they can at bringing him in.

But, if they even slightly think that there is a better option out there or the deal for the Frenchman will cost them too much, then they shouldn't pursue it, especially with how many changes they already need to make.
