West Brom are reportedly keen to add John Heitinga as a permanent replacement for Carlos Corberan. The Spaniard left for a high-profile role at crisis-hit Valencia with the Baggies’ decision-makers putting the Liverpool coach at the top of their list.

His departure would have been a significant blow for Arne Slot, with Heitinga said to be impressive on the training ground and popular with players.

Happily for Liverpool it’s now been reported in De Telegraaf that Heitinga will not leave Slot’s side and is committed to the Reds for the rest of this season.

"John will definitely stay at Liverpool this season," agent Rob Jansen told the Dutch paper. Furthermore, it’s also reported that the club will soon commence contract talks over a new deal for Heitinga.

Jayden Danns set for first Arne Slot appearance

The Times reports that Arne Slot very much sees Jayden Danns as a part of his senior squad. He's now expected to call on the forward against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.

After all, he's proven himself in this competition before. His efforts for the Under 21s have been really solid this season, too, and Danns does look ready.

Slot will be eager to rest players, too, coming off meetings with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The young striker gives him a fine opportunity to do just that.

Now, it's not clear whether Slot will start the youngster but at the very least, we should see him come off the bench. But there's surely a good chance of Danns getting the nod from the get go.

Matheus Cunha is having the season of his life. He has registered 10 goals and four assists in his 19 Premier League games this season.

In an underwhelming Wolves side, he has been the shining beacon of hope which has propelled their form and seen them leap out of the relegation zone.

Operating mainly as a striker, he is exactly what Liverpool could need. His directness, finishing and physicality would have Arne Slot drooling.

But he may be a case of ‘what if’.

Football Insider has recently reported that Arsenal are ready to swoop in for the Brazilian star.

“A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Arsenal are pushing to land the attacker in the mid-season window, which shuts on 3 February.”

A new left-back is being considered by sporting director Richard Hughes and his team and a recent article from Paul Joyce in the Times confirms this.

“Andrew Robertson will be 31 in March and Kostas Tsimikas is not a long-term replacement, so it stands to reason that reinforcements are required in the future.

“The sporting director, Richard Hughes, will be working on that. He knows Milos Kerkez well, having signed him for Bournemouth, and the player now shares the same agent, LIAN Sports Group, as Federico Chiesa. Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, who is out of contract in the summer, has also been linked.”

With Hughes' relationship with Kerkez, the signing makes complete sense. He is obviously admired by a wide number of clubs following his heroics this season so far for the Cherries, but Hughes needs to deliver.

The Reds are set to face Man Utd at Anfield on Sunday, January 5 at 4.30pm in the outstanding Premier League fixture of the week.

But a statement from the Met Office reads as follows:

"Snow expected to lead to disruption during Sunday across northern England."

The warning includes: "Delays and cancellations to rail and air travel is expected," and "Travel delays on roads, stranding some vehicles and passengers."

Amber weather warnings will remain in place from 21:00 on Saturday, January 4 until 23:59 on Sunday, January 5.

Furthermore there could be an issue with a lack of gritting in the area with Anfield Watch learning that grit hasn't been pre-ordered by Liverpool City Council.
