It's been two months since Liverpool's No. 20 sadly passed away and the tributes made in his memory are continuing to flood in from across the world. His loss has transcended the sport.

The 28-year-old Portuguese striker is now a permanent member of Arne Slot's squad, since his famous shirt number has now been immortalised by the club and his country. The gesture came alongside several other initiatives the Reds have put in place, including the building of a statute and committing to paying out the remainder of his contract to help support his family during this time.

Most recently, his former teammate James Milner decided to dedicate a goal to him by perfoming the gamer celebration and it is memories like that which have helped everyone to grieve his passing.

This week, however, a new gesture has been made to the forward and other Portuguese footballers that are sadly no longer us. It is hoped Jota's family will now be able to start to move forward again.

Villas-Boas makes touching gesture

According to Correio, the Portuguese Football Federation held a ceremony in tribute to Jorge Costa, Andre Silva and Jota, with Andre Villas-Boas - president of FC Porto - making an announcement.

In the report, it is said that Ruate Cardoso - Jota's partner - will assume certain functions at the club, including overseeing the partnership with Luna, an e-sports team that Jota had previously founded.

The player was known for his enjoyment of playing video games such as the FIFA and EA Sports applications and it was a great passion of his to support up and coming players in the field.

Making sure his family is connected to his work is really clever way to immortalise his memory.

Porto deserve the upmost respect for making such a decision, just as Liverpool, Wolves and the Portuguese national team have also worked hard to be respectful in honouring his life and career.

His legacy will live on for generations to come.
