Liverpool's most underrated star is FINALLY being recognised
With four games remaining of the 2024/25 season, Liverpool are Premier League champions.
The season that the Reds have put together is nothing short of spectacular, and no one expected such success so early in Arne Slot’s tenure.

Winning a league title is obviously a team effort, but there have been a few standout performers who have impressed the most.
Mohamed Salah has enjoyed a generational campaign and has been head and shoulders above everyone else in the league.
Salah is unquestionably the most important player in this Liverpool side, but there is a player not too far behind him who is criminally underrated.
Alexis Mac Allister’s importance is massively underrated
When it was announced that Alexis Mac Allister would swap Brighton for Liverpool for just £35 million in the summer of 2023, almost everyone around the football world knew the Reds had a bargain on their hands.
Since arriving at Anfield the World Cup winner has been a mainstay in the team, making 93 appearances in his first two seasons.

Almost every Reds’ supporter would have Mac Allister in the team’s strongest XI, but his impact on the side is still massively underrated.
The Argentine won Man of the Match when Liverpool smashed Tottenham 5-1 to secure their 20th league title, and in the days since he has also been nominated for the Premier League’s April Player of the Month award.
Mac Allister’s contribution is finally being recognised, but the 26-year-old is still underrated.
Is Mac Allister Liverpool’s second most important player?
Salah’s position as the Reds’ talisman is cemented, but there is a very strong argument to be made that Mac Allister is the second most important of Slot’s stars.
Virgil van Dijk and Alisson are often considered to be among the most impactful players at Anfield and, whilst their contributions shouldn’t be overlooked, Liverpool still look a fantastic side without them on the pitch.
Caoimhin Kelleher has proven himself as a highly capable back-up once again this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 20 appearances.
Liverpool’s options behind Van Dijk aren’t quite as strong as Kelleher, but Joe Gomez can perform at a very high level when fit and Jarell Quansah’s potential is clear to see.
Behind Mac Allister the options are not as strong. Curtis Jones is the obvious option but he is a very different player to the versatile Argentinian.
Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo and Tyler Morton could also provide cover for Mac Allister but none of the trio appear to be in favour with Slot.
The drop off when Mac Allister isn’t in the side is clear to see.
The midfield maestro has only been absent from the matchday squad on four occasions this season, and the Reds only managed to win one of these games.
The best there’s been, from the Argentine
Mac Allister is the key to Liverpool’s success this season. Salah has propelled the Reds to the title, but the Argentinian has been integral too.
His performance against Tottenham in front of one of the loudest crowds Anfield has ever seen perfectly summed up what he offers.
Winning a number of brave sliding tackles, constantly recovering possession, creating chances and scoring a ridiculous goal, Mac Allister did it all against Spurs.
The 26-year-old's incredible season has drawn the attention of a number of rival clubs, with Real Madrid reportedly keen on his signature, but Liverpool will hope they can keep their man at Anfield for a long time.

Mac Allister’s impact on the side cannot be understated, and the midfielder is definitely underrated by most, but with the Argentinian at the heart of the team Slot can create a footballing dynasty over the next few seasons in Merseyside.
