Liverpool eyeing move for midfielder compared to Mesut Ozil

Andoni Iraola and Richard Hughes will already be looking for new players to sign this summer.

One thing that Liverpool desperately need to do next season is beat their rivals to the signings of their transfer targets.

Indeed, they may have beaten some other Premier League teams to the arrival of certain players but for others such as Joao Pedro, they unfortunately missed out.

And, with the amount of changes that their team needs to go through, getting ahead of their rivals could be key to winning some silverware again.

Several world-class players are already of interest to Liverpool but, a fresh report has revealed a new target for the Anfield outfit.

Liverpool are now 'monitoring' Arda Guler

Arda Guler has been one of the breakout stars for Real Madrid this season.

The Turkiye international has been a shining light with their attack and has quickly become one of the first names on the team sheet.

He's only 21 years old but, this term, he's been playing like he's in his prime.

And, the fact that Xabi Alonso compared the youngster to Mesut Ozil proves how good he actually is.

Guler's rich vein of form hasn't gone unnoticed with Sports Boom now claiming that Liverpool are 'monitoring' the midfielder.

"Chelsea is not alone in this race [for Guler]," they wrote.

"According to sources close to SportsBoom, Arsenal and Liverpool are also closely monitoring the situation of Arda Guler.

"Both clubs want to increase their midfield depth, and this interest is fueled by the anticipation that the age, technical capacity and market value of Guler will multiply exponentially in the coming years.

"Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has always looked favourably upon young and highly technical players. Although whether Guler can adapt to the Arsenal system remains a topic of debate, it is known that the interest rests on a concrete foundation.

"On the Liverpool front, the search for a creative profile like Guler is clearly felt during the new generation rebuilding process under the new management of Andoni Iraola."

Arda Guler would fit nicely into Andoni Iraola's plans at Liverpool

As mentioned, Guler has been in fine form for Real Madrid this season.

The Turkiye international has contributed to 20 goals across all competitions and has played in multiple positions.

And, although his favoured position is clearly as a number 10, with Liverpool already having Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai who can occupy that role, he's more likely to be used out wide.

This term, Alvaro Arbeloa and Alonso used the 21-year-old on both the left and right-wing as well as a central midfielder.

Guler's versatility is highly sought after in this day and age and, although he could potentially cost around £100 million to prise away from the Bernabeu, it feels like he'd be an exceptional addition.

That is, especially if Real Madrid end up wanting to sign Alexis Mac Allister as this would take a decent whack of money out of the overall fee.
