Mbappe 'cursed by witch doctor' says World Cup winner as he hits new low vs Liverpool
Liverpool beat Real Madrid for the first time in 15 years on Wednesday night with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo condemning the 15-time European champions to a dismal defeat.
And while Liverpool’s season goes from strength to strength under Arne Slot, Madrid are falling apart and seemingly getting worse week by week.

Although their misery was alleviated temporarily against Leganes last weekend, a damaging defeat to Barcelona in el Clasico and their awful Champions League form has left question marks against many of their star-studded squad as well as coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Their injury list shows no sign of abating with Eduardo Camavinga the latest to join the ranks of the infirm at Anfield. Without the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo - a Liverpool transfer target - it’s been expected that superstar signing Kylian Mbappe would finally put things right and become Madrid’s go-to player.
Mbappe HUMBLED by Kelleher and Bradley
That’s not happened, however, with the Frenchman seeing his penalty saved by Caoimhin Kelleher in midweek. Criticism over the World Cup winner has grown to intense levels, given that he’s currently out of the France squad and his Madrid struggles ongoing.
Another France World Cup winner has offered a bizarre explanation for Mbappe’s crisis following his limp display against the Reds, which featured an incredible tackle on him by Conor Bradley.
Emmanuel Petit is of the opinion that otherwordly forces are at play, with the ex-Arsenal midfielder reaching for supernatural explanations for Mbappe’s poor form.
Mbappe 'cursed by a witch doctor'
“I really think he was cursed by a witch doctor,” he told RMC Sport after the Liverpool game. “You’re joking!” Daniel Riolo, fellow panellist, replied.
“I believe in these things, you don’t believe in them,” Petit retorted. “I believe in it. There are quite a few things that I believe in. Westerners don’t believe in it. It’s not in their culture, we’re very Cartesian. I believe in it."
Elaborating, he said: “When you speak to me about Mbappe, I always have this impression in my head, that if a voice comes from the Moon, there are several billion of us here on earth. And at this moment, it’s Mbappe who’s taking it.”
Petit’s colleagues were looking at him puzzled during this last statement and simply replied: “Okay.”
Mbappe will be back in action for Real Madrid on Sunday, when they host Getafe in LaLiga.
