Midfielder confirms he's destined to be Liverpool's next signing

An incredible midfielder has confirmed he is destined to become Liverpool's next signing.

Liverpool’s transfer window has fallen well short of what was expected so far. There are still some glaring holes in the squad that need addressing before the new season begins, yet the club has struggled to make meaningful progress in the market.

Even Andoni Iraola admitted as much during his first press conference. Liverpool’s new head coach acknowledged that the squad still needs strengthening and made it clear that work is being done behind the scenes to bring in reinforcements. At the time, those comments offered some reassurance.

But since then, there has been very little to suggest that Liverpool are any closer to solving the problems in the squad.

Victor Munoz remains the only major addition, while much of the noise surrounding Liverpool’s transfer activity has been about deals falling through, targets moving elsewhere and questions over what happens next.

The biggest disappointment has undoubtedly been the pursuit of Yan Diomande. Liverpool made a serious effort to land the highly-rated winger and saw him as one of their preferred options for adding more pace and unpredictability to the attack. Instead, Diomande turned them down in favour of Paris Saint-Germain before eventually completing a move to Real Madrid.

That leaves Liverpool back at square one in their search for another attacking player.

And that is becoming a familiar theme this summer. The club can identify targets and show an obvious willingness to spend, but actually getting the right players through the door has proved much more difficult.

Things have hardly been calmer away from the pitch, either.

Michael Edwards’ resignation has only added another layer of uncertainty around Liverpool’s recruitment structure. His departure comes at a particularly awkward time, with Richard Hughes already under pressure to deliver a balanced squad and several key areas still requiring investment.

Liverpool have already spent heavily in recent windows and have shown they are capable of making major deals happen. But spending money is not the same as building a squad.

That is the real concern right now.

Iraola needs the right players to implement his football, yet Liverpool still have obvious weaknesses across the squad. With the clock ticking towards the new season, the club cannot afford for another few weeks to pass without making serious progress.

The window is not over yet. There is still time to put things right.

But at the moment, Liverpool’s summer is looking increasingly difficult to defend.

The midfield is probably the clearest example of just how much work Liverpool still have to do before the transfer window closes.

Curtis Jones' future remains uncertain, with speculation over a potential move refusing to disappear. Alexis Mac Allister is facing questions of his own, meanwhile, with his long-term future still unclear as his contract situation continues to drag on.

Even if both players remain at Anfield beyond the end of the window, Liverpool should still be looking at midfield reinforcements. The issue is not necessarily a lack of quality, but whether the current options are the right fit for what Andoni Iraola wants to build.

Iraola demands a huge amount from his midfielders. His teams are expected to play with relentless intensity, pressing aggressively, recovering possession quickly and covering enormous amounts of ground. There also needs to be the energy to transition forward at speed once the ball has been won.

Liverpool have plenty of technical ability in midfield. What they arguably lack is the athleticism, dynamism and sheer running power required to make Iraola's football work consistently.

That could become a major issue over the course of a long season.

Adding more energy to the midfield would give Iraola greater flexibility and allow Liverpool to play at the intensity he wants without placing too much responsibility on the same group of players.

And that is why the midfield should be one of the club's biggest priorities before the window closes. Even with Jones and Mac Allister still around, Liverpool need to consider whether they have the right blend of qualities for their new manager.

Well, Liverpool have been credited with strong interest in Lamine Camara who would tick a lot of boxes for Iraola in terms of his style of play and he confirmed that he is the perfect next signing for the club with his brilliant performance at Anfield over the weekend.

Camara played with a lot of intensity and energy and he completed the most passes (48) while he was on the pitch. On top of that he won two out of three ground duels and made seven recoveries, which was again the highest in midfield while he was on the pitch.

The Senegalese midfielder is still very young at 22-years-old but he already has so much experience he has everything to be the midfielder Liverpool desperately need under Iraola.

Over the years we've seen so many players perform well in front of the club's manager, from Dominik Szoboszlai to Luis Diaz and Takumi Minamino as well as Darwin Nunez.

Camara's performance will have confirmed his destiny like all those aforementioned names also belongs at Anfield and he can be the club's next signing.
