Liverpool are hopeful of signing Barcelona wonderkid
According to Marca, as cited by LFC Transfer Room, Liverpool could make a move for Barcelona wonderkid Gavi.
The report states that the 17-year-old has turned down a third contract offer from the Catalonian side, which could open the door for the Reds to make a move for the playmaker.
The midfielder's current release clause with Barcelona is €50m and it's thought that the Spanish club would want that paid this summer, even though his contract is set to end at the end of the 2023 season.
Anfield Watch Report
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Gavi for a few months now and it's starting to look like a transfer could be plausible.
The Reds were most recently linked with the 17-year-old after the very reliable Gerard Romero reported that Jurgen Klopp's side had offered him a yearly wage of €6m to convince him to sign for Liverpool.
At first, a lot of people suspected that this was a move by Gavi's representatives to force Barcelona into giving him the contract that he wants, similar to what Pedri did last season.
However, it seems like Barca are sticking to their offer and they could be willing to cash in on the 17-year-old if he refuses to sign it.
Despite only being 17-years-old, Gavi is a massive part of Xavi's new Barcelona. This season alone, the teenager has played 36 games in all competitions, scoring two goals and getting five assists.
If Barcelona do sign Gavi up to a new contract then they could have a midfielder that will be with them for the next 15 years performing at the highest levels.
However, if they fail to agree a new deal with him then another club could benefit from Gavi's unbelievable talent for many years to come.
