Journalist confirms Liverpool approach for high-profile Arne Slot replacement
Liverpool appear to be sounding out Arne Slot replacements. An approach has been made.
Arne Slot remains under intense pressure at Liverpool, though things will naturally ease without football being played. But this season hasn't been anywhere near what was expected.
Liverpool, after all, spent £400m on the back of winning the Premier League title. To then struggle to a fifth-place finish is awful and it's led to many wanting a change of ideas in the dugout.
Richard Hughes and company have stuck with Slot through all of that pressure, however. They remain to, as well.
To an extent, anyway. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Liverpool have asked Andoni Iraola about potentially taking over from Slot in the near-future.
Now, the suggestion there isn't that Slot is to leave the Reds ASAP. We still fully expect him to get the start of next season.
But it does suggest that Liverpool are preparing for life after the Dutchman. They want to know if Iraola will be available into next season or whether he's looking to take himself off the market before the campaign kicks off.
Essentially, it's a way of telling Iraola to hold off on joining AC Milan or Crystal Palace. A bigger job may well open up for him.

His high-intensity tactical system orchestrated a remarkable 18-match unbeaten streak, culminating in a final-day 1–1 draw against Nottingham Forest. His standout achievements earned him a Premier League Manager of the Year nomination.
Next Destination Battle
Having departed the Vitality Stadium after turning down a new contract, the 43-year-old Spaniard is now the subject of an intense European pursuit. AC Milan have moved into pole position, with Zlatan Ibrahimović reportedly scheduled to meet Iraola’s representatives in London following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri. Whilst Crystal Palace remain highly interested, speculation also links Iraola to Liverpool, with reports suggesting he has been approached as a potential successor should Anfield chiefs part ways with Arne Slot.
