Here we go, Liverpool close in on agreement to sign English super talent
Liverpool are closing in on an agreement with an English super talent over a massive deal.
The club's recruitment over the last few years has been questionable at times. Liverpool fans and pundits alike have often been left scratching their heads trying to figure out what Richard Hughes' intentions were.
There's been some baffling decisions. Some decisions that have utterly surprised us.
Obviously, Liverpool have recruited well from the outsider's perspective. The Reds have signed exciting players, spent lavishly and got a lot of shiny new toys.
However, were these signings the right profile? Were these signings really needed? That part is something that is absolutely moot.
Looking at Liverpool's squad right now, you'd have to say the club's recruitment has been a failure. They've not succeeded at their objective to make Liverpool better.
Liverpool's biggest concern in the squad
Right now one of the biggest issues within the team is the lack of cohesion. But amidst that lack of cohesion the problem is the lack of diverse profiles.
Liverpool have a lot of ball carrying midfielders like Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai but not a lot of midfielders virtually just one in Trey Nyoni, who are confident being involved in the build-up and playing quick progressive passes to their teammates' feet.
On top of that, Liverpool's left flank is far too lopsided. Liverpool have Rio Ngumoha, Bradley Barcola, Victor Munoz and Cody Gakpo who all prefer to play on that side.
Whereas, they have absolutely nobody who prefers to play on the right-wing. That's giving Andoni Iraola a lot of headaches in terms of his team selection.
Currently, no one has really been able to nail down the right-wing spot.
Liverpool's exciting agreement with Rio Ngumoha over massive deal
At the same time, there's no denying that while Liverpool made a lot of mistakes over the course of the last couple of years, luring Ngumoha from Chelsea was not one of them.
The English super talent is one of the most exciting young players in the country. He is very highly rated and deservedly made his England debut in competitive action during the international break.
Right now, his contract expires in 2028 so Julian Ward has been working behind the scenes in order to sign the attacker to a long-term deal.
And there might just be a breakthrough.
TEAMtalk are reporting that Liverpool are closing in on an agreement with Ngumoha that will secure his long-term future.
That's an exciting update, and it's at least a positive in all the doom and gloom that surrounds the club right now.
