Gabby Agbonlahor feels Liverpool should part ways with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Fabinho at the end of the 2022-23 season, while he believes James Milner should be handed a new contract by Jurgen Klopp

Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain's contracts expire at the end of the current season and it is believed the duo will leave the club on free transfers. Fabinho, on the other hand, has looked like a shadow of his former self in recent months, due to which Agbonlahor believes Liverpool need to part ways with him. As for Milner, the former Aston Villa striker believes Klopp needs to keep him at the club due to his leadership qualities and versatility.

Speaking to Football Insider, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Agbonlahor explained why Milner needs to stick on at Liverpool at least for another season.

“I think his experience and leadership is well worth having. Fabinho should go this summer, [Naby] Keita will go, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain will go. So Liverpool will need a player like Milner, for sure.

“Players will come in, for sure, but you don’t know what injury problems they’ll have or whether they will settle in straight away. Milner is definitely one to keep around the squad.

“He won’t be moaning about not getting game time, he knows his role. I think if you’re Klopp you definitely give him a new deal. Not many have got more experience than him, and he can play in multiple positions if needed as well.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

With Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arthur Melo certain to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, keeping Milner at the club for another year might not be the worst idea in the world. With the midfield already in desperate need of surgery, the Englishman could be a good option to turn to if the Reds were to experience another injury crisis.

The 37-year-old isn't getting any younger, but his experience could also prove to be vital to see off games, while his leadership qualities could also prove to be invaluable as Liverpool look to build another all-conquering team.

As for Fabinho, despite his poor form, he deserves a chance to remain at Liverpool and prove his worth next season. Since joining the club in 2018 from Monaco, the Brazilian has been one of the best players in the world in his position, so there's absolutely no chance he's become a bad player overnight.
