Alex Scott is one of the most talked about players in world football right now.

The Englishman has put in several impressive performances early this season for Bournemouth, but the talk has mostly been around where he will be playing his football in the New Year.

Chelsea showed heavy interest last season, seeing multiple bids rejected, but the 23-year-old's stock has risen even higher with his two caps for England in the recent international break.

Liverpool are desperate for midfield reinforcements and Anondi Iraola’s link to Scott has made him the most likely option for many, but the Reds would have to absolutely break the bank to secure their man according to the most recent update.

Liverpool in the hunt for Scott

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Scott could well be on the move this winter, with the Cherries opening the door on a potential departure after meetings with the player’s representatives.

A deal would require a proposal of over £100 million, but an exit appears almost guaranteed in either the January window or next summer, with Romano saying: “For sure Scott will leave Bournemouth in 2027, there are movements.”

The update states that Chelsea remain favourites but that Liverpool maintain a strong interest.

The fee would likely be a big sticking point for the Reds, who this season became the first team to ever field three players simultaneously that cost over £100 million, and committing a further £100 million to signing Scott would take their total spend to over £750 million in just two years.

Iraola’s connection with his former player could prove a key factor when it comes to Scott making his decision, but if Liverpool cannot or will not rival Chelsea when negotiating with Bournemouth then that advantage will count for very little.

It looks like Liverpool may have to stump up and add a fourth £100 million player to Iraola’s team if they want to avoid missing out on Scott.
