Andoni Iraola needed a big win this week to bounce back from the disappointment of losing to Manchester City and he got it with a convincing victory over LASK.

Everything that could have gone right went right in that game. Bradley Barcola got his confidence with a hat-trick, Lewis Koumas grew into the game, and Rio Ngumoha probably produced one of his best performances in a Liverpool shirt.

It means Liverpool are heading into that big clash against Brentford full of confidence. Which they would not have been doing if they were going into it on the back of the defeat to Man City.

Nonetheless, Iraola knows his side need a big win in order to bounce back convincingly.

Liverpool's midfield need exposed

With Dominik Szoboszlai injured and Ryan Graveberch suspended, the Reds' depth in midfield has been very exposed. It means Trey Nyoni has been thrust into the spotlight and he lived up to the hype with a brilliant performance against LASK.

Other than Nyoni the only senior option under consideration by Iraola seems to be Aleix Mac Allister. It's clear Wataru Endo is not favoured by the Spaniard and James McConnell if we are being honest is just there to make up the numbers.

Since Curtis Jones left, Liverpool are still yet to replace their academy graduate. They need at least one more midfield signing. The question is who, and how could they attract them to Anfield.

Lamine Camara will be a serious target. But he's not the only one.

Tyler Morton confirms he's ready to join Liverpool with stunning performance

Liverpool also have a lack of homegrown players in the squad at the moment on top of a lack of midfielders and that is why Tyler Morton could become a genuine option for the Reds.

Morton has already shown his quality over the years playing under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot. He would count as a club-trained homegrown player, and he would also offer Liverpool what they have missed.

The English midfielder likes to play a deeper role, he wants to play progressive passes and break lines. He confirmed just how well he can do that against Crystal Palace midweek.

The Lyon midfielder made the most passes into the final third (10) for his team and and also won five out of his six duels while completing six out of eight long ball attempts.

Morton absolutely controlled the middle of the park to help Lyon to victory and that performance considering he was coming up against Adam Wharton only confirmed what we already know - Morton is ready to join Liverpool again.
