Liverpool have given the surest sign yet that Alisson Becker will be sold. The Reds have made a bold move.

Moving to sign anyone from Manchester City is a bold move. Liverpool have rivalled them for the title plenty of times over the years - you typically don't see the club's swap players and risk boosting their rival.

And so it's interesting that Liverpool have made an initial move to sign James Trafford. Goal report that they've expressed their interest in the goalkeeper who looks set to leave this summer.

Trafford only signed for City ahead of this season but they would go on to complete a deal for Gianluigi Donnarumma at the deadline. That ripped away Trafford's no.1 spot and it means he's looking to move on in the summer.

Liverpool's interest is particularly interesting as it comes at a time when Alisson Becker is heavily linked with a move to Juventus. It certainly appears that the Reds are entering the market for a new goalkeeper - something that only makes sense if the Brazilian departs.

We've actually suggested that a move for Trafford makes sense in the circumstances and it appears Liverpool see things the same way. But in doing so, it's the surest sign yet that Alisson is indeed leaving the club.

The Reds triggered a one-year extension on his contract to keep him until 2027. However, it now looks as though that was simply to guarantee a transfer fee for him when he departs later this year.

The end of the road, then.

Alisson Becker: Situation Summary

Season Stats and Injury Update

As of 23 April 2026, Alisson Becker has made 25 Premier League appearances this season, recording eight clean sheets and an 81% pass completion rate. He has also kept four clean sheets in six Champions League matches. However, the 33-year-old is currently recovering from his second hamstring injury of the campaign. Reports suggest he is targeting a return for the fixture against Manchester United on 3 May, with Freddie Woodman expected to deputise this weekend.

Contract and Juventus Agreement

Despite Liverpool recently triggering a one-year extension to keep him at Anfield until June 2027, Alisson’s departure appears imminent. As of late April, reports indicate he has reached a verbal agreement to join Juventus this summer. Liverpool have reportedly set a €15 million asking price, though negotiations continue regarding Juventus's ability to match his €8 million annual salary.

International Standing

Alisson remains Brazil’s undisputed number one under Carlo Ancelotti. Despite his recent injury lay-off, he has confirmed he will be in "full playing condition" for the 2026 World Cup this June, where he is set to lead the Seleção.
