23-year-old star to audition for Liverpool move, club eager to sign him

Liverpool still have a fair few holes within their team that they need to plug.

Even though four new players have been brought in over the summer, the Reds' depth is still fairly thin.

If three or four of their first-team squad get injured, they are going to face some major problems.

However, since the January transfer window is another chance for them to improve their ranks, there's no reason why they can't start to eye new moves for players already.

So, the fact that one of their many targets could be about to audition for his move to Liverpool is rather exciting.

Liverpool want to sign Marc Pubill

Liverpool's defence was probably their main area that they needed to upgrade in the summer.

Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson both exited Anfield at the start of the 2026-27 season and, even though Jeremy Jacquet and Kostas Tsimikas were able to plug those gaps, the Reds' defence didn't feel strong enough to compete.

So, that's likely to be one of the main reasons why Ronald Araujo was signed with his ability to play as a centre-back or a right-back probably one of his key selling points.

However, since he'll be 28 years old by the time Liverpool have the option to buy him, it could be a bit of a risk for them to sign him permanently.

And, when FussballNews are claiming that the Reds want Marc Pubill and Atletico only want €55 million for him, it's clear why they want him.

Marc Pubill has the best chance to show Liverpool why they should sign him on Wednesday evening

Liverpool are set to open up their Champions League campaign with a game against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

No matter what fixtures get announced, Liverpool always seem to get drawn against Diego Simeone's men in Europe's premier competition.

And, even if the La Liga outfit aren't in the best run of form, they always seem to get the better of Liverpool and, for one reason or another, Marcos Llorente always seems to have the best game of his season against the Reds.

However, even though it'll be Iraola's debut in the competition as a manager, 23-year-old Pubill will want to prove why Liverpool should sign him next summer.

Much like Araujo, the Spaniard is versatile, tall, fast and has an impeccable aerial duel win percentage.

However, the fact that he's around five years younger than the former Barcelona captain makes him a much more solid long-term investment.

If he plays well against Liverpool on Wednesday, he could really announce himself to the Premier League outfit and make them consider launching a bid.
