Liverpool given their best opportunity to sign £51m sensation ever

Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of players already this summer.

The Anfield outfit are in desperate need of reinforcements and, without them, it's hard to see how they'll do any better than they did during the 2025-26 season.

Of course, Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet have already been brought in but, as the Reds' first pre-season game against Sunderland proved, they still don't really have enough depth in most areas of the pitch.

That is, especially if they're wanting to start challenging for silverware again this season.

Despite being linked with many players, there are a couple of positions among Liverpool's ranks that definitely need upgrading and, it now feels like one of those areas could be about to get bolstered.

One of the main areas that Liverpool could do with upgrading is their number six.

Ryan Gravenberch may have emerged as one of the Premier League's best defensive-midfielders during the 2024-25 season but, recently, his performances haven't hit the mark.

In fact, some fans have even started to question why Liverpool even chose to offer him a bumper new deal to keep him at the club.

However, since he was Arne Slot's only option in defensive midfield, it's clear why he was consistently chosen but, now that we're in the middle of the summer transfer window, it feels like there's never been a better time for the Anfield outfit to make their move.

Many different players have been floated as potential options but, after a fresh update from Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin, it feels like Liverpool's option for defensive-midfield is as clear as day.

"José Mourinho has spoken with Eduardo Camavinga and explained his situation to him," the journalist wrote via his personal X account.

"He's going to have a very tough time getting minutes. Mourinho has been direct with him.

"Mourinho already had this idea before arriving at Valdebebas.

"The club is looking for options for him to be transferred, although Camavinga, for the moment, has said he doesn't want to leave."

Liverpool are obviously one of the most well-known teams in the world.

Their history speaks for itself and is one of the main reasons why so many players are ecstatic to join up with the Reds.

And, since they're now rebuilding themselves after Slot's departure, it doesn't really feel like there has been a better time to join the Anfield outfit.

Camavinga is a world-class player so, if Mourinho isn't ready to give him regular playing time, it feels like the Frenchman should definitely be seeking pastures new.

His versatility coupled with the amount of experience he has of top-flight football are just a couple of the reasons why Liverpool must try their hardest to get a deal for him over the line.

He'd be able to challenge Gravenberch for his starting role and potentially even partner him if someone such as Alexis Mac Allister ends up exiting.

The Frenchman would also give Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas a run for their money at left-back so, if he did join, there would be plenty of options available for him to play.

There's obviously a lot of moving parts that could still come into play but, on paper, Liverpool making a move for Camavinga makes an awful lot of sense, especially since Los Blancos only want around £51 million for him.
