Talks are now set as a club responds to Liverpool's genuine - and serious - interest. Things could escalate quickly from here.

Liverpool want to sign Michael Olise from Bayern Munich. That’s been reported for a little while now, with German outlets going quite big on it on Wednesday.

Both SportBild and Christian Falk have reported on that interest. Liverpool, after all, want a star to replace Mohamed Salah on their right flank, having failed to land any suitable target in 2026.

Olise, who is arguably the best in the world in that position right now, has a relatively uncertain future and that thrusts Liverpool into the mix. His contract runs until 2029, meaning Bayern would have to sell next summer if they’re to get full value for him.

It’s a situation that forces them - and everyone else - into action.

Bayern Munich to hold Michael Olise talks

Both reports say the same thing: Bayern will hold talks with Olise. They want to renew his contract to 2032, making him the long-term star of the side.

Harry Kane is also set to renew his deal, though his age presents a different scenario. Olise would unequivocally be handing his prime years to Bayern.

The Bundesliga champions aren’t entirely open to negotiation, though. They won’t sign off on a release clause and there is a financial limit to the wages they’d offer. Limits that Liverpool may be able to climb over.

This promises to be the major transfer story going forward. Olise is just about available, even if it would be for an enormous fee, and Liverpool and Real Madrid are eager to sign him as a superstar addition.

It’ll all come down to what Olise prefers to do. Does he want to play at Bayern in his prime? Or does he want to sample something different? That’s ultimately the decision here.
