Liverpool have taken a step closer to signing Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain. That's after a massive bid was put in - for a different player.

Liverpool want to sign Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain and we're thrilled about that. The teenager is a sensational talent and boasts the kind of ability that takes you to the very top of the game.

There's a natural partnership with Rio Ngumoha, too, and we're not sure the Reds could find another right-winger who has a better chance of 'replacing' Mohamed Salah. No, that would be immediately but long-term? Mabye is a special player who could really do it.

But, naturally, other clubs do also see that he's good. Recent reports have claimed that Liverpool muscled their way to the front of the queue, though, along with Borussia Dortmund.

The German giants love a development project and understandably view Mbaye as an outstanding one. They'd like to sign him if they can't get someone else in first.

That player is Said El Mala. El Mala was probably the no.2 standout teenager in the Bundesliga last season, behind Yan Diomande. He had a simply brilliant campaign for Koln and quite honestly, his reputation would likely be much higher if Diomande hadn't taken so many plaudits.

Dortmund would also love to sign him and Sky Germany now report that they're going all-in to do that. Florian Plettenberg broke the news, claiming an offer of €55m is going to Koln in an attempt to sign El Mala.

That is significant. It's the biggest offer Dortmund have ever made and El Mala would become their record signing if Koln accept the bid - the teenager has already agreed personal terms.

And if it goes through, Liverpool will consider themselves overwhelming favourites to sign Mbaye. It's incredibly unlikely that Dortmund move for El Mala and then make a similar offer for the Senegal star, which would leave the Reds out on their own at the front of the queue.

Very positive news for Liverpool, then. Mbaye may well be on his way.
