Fabrizio Romano denies recent reports about Liverpool. It's a massive win for the Reds - if he's right.

Liverpool are hot on the pursuit of Bradley Barcola, who is (sort of) available to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. That is, they're willing to accept an offer for the winger but it won't come cheap.

PSG supposedly want over €150m for Barcola, despite the fact he's not actually a certain starter for them. They're driving about as hard a bargain as a club possibly can - though, that hasn't entirely put Liverpool off.

But the sizeable fee led to reports last week that Liverpool had made an offer to PSG that was significantly below the asking price. They'd then, allegedly, told the Parisians that they simply couldn't afford that asking price and would need to negotiate it down.

This was a worry. Especially with reports that Arsenal, fresh from failing to sign Vinicius Jr, were eager to get involved in the race or Barcola.

Fabrizio Romano says, however, that this isn't true. Or at least, it isn't true per his own information and that Liverpool never made an offer to PSG, nor did they signal an inability to pay for the player.

They're apparently still in talks, Romano says on his YouTube channel, and will remain so for the coming while. There's no real insinuation that an agreement is close, in other words.

Liverpool moved onto Barcola as their priority option for the summer after failing to sign Yan Diomande. A difficult market for wingers, though, means it's really Barcola or nothing.

Or at least, Barcola or an enormous risk with their season. The Frenchman is unquestionably the standout available winger, even if he doesn't play on the right where Liverpool desperately need someone.

It seems the Reds are happy to sign the best player available, rather than the best fit, and make things work from there.
