Despite Slot’s early-season success, the recruitment team at Anfield are always looking for ways to improve the squad, and they may have identified a bargain for Liverpool.

Daniel Svensson linked with Liverpool transfer

A new report by TEAMtalk has once again linked the Reds with a move for FC Nordsjaelland left-back Daniel Svensson.

The report claims that Liverpool scouts have been impressed by the 22-year-old’s performances in the Danish Superliga but does also say that the Reds will face competition for his signature from other sides around Europe as well as from Manchester United and Arsenal.

Liverpool’s interest in Svensson was exclusively revealed by Football Transfers in August, and the player has continued to impress since the start of the season.

With an estimated transfer value of only €1.7 million, according to Football Transfers, Svensson could prove a bargain compared to some of the other fullbacks currently linked with the Reds, such as Milos Kerkez.

Who is Daniel Svensson?

The 22-year-old is a dynamic player who can be utilised all over the pitch, frequently playing in the midfield and capable of being deployed right-back and centre-half, although the majority of Svensson’s games have been played at left-back.

Svensson recently made his debut for Sweden’s national team, making a short cameo in a 3-0 UEFA Nations League victory over Estonia.

Now, after a brilliant start to his fifth Superliga season, clubs from around Europe are starting to take an interest.

The future of Liverpool’s left-back position is unclear, with Andy Robertson struggling for form this season and the quality of Kostas Tsimikas not guaranteed, and so Svensson could prove the ideal signing for the Reds to future-proof the left-hand side of the defence.
