Liverpool are attempting to sign Hugo Ekitike in order to improve Arne Slot’s options in the No9 position. It’s not going to be a cheap operation with 23-year-old Ekitike possessing a €100m release clause.

And with sporting director Richard Hughes having already spent £200m so far in the summer transfer window, the Reds are well on their way to a record-smashing transfer window.

It’s well known that the club are intending to recoup money in sales. The departures of Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nat Phillips have already helped in that regard.

But even more Liverpool players face the exit this summer - with Nunez, Luis Diaz, Ben Doak, Federico Chiesa and Tyler Morton among those potentially leaving.

Harvey Elliott tipped for Liverpool exit

One more player who’s on the shopping list for SEVERAL Premier League and overseas teams is Harvey Elliott. The 22-year-old was a bit-part player at best for Arne Slot last season - starting only two top-flight matches and both came with the title already sealed.

Under contract until 2027, it’s reckoned that Elliott will have to look elsewhere for significant game time - especially given Liverpool have signed Wirtz to go ahead of him in the pecking order.

The strongest suitors over the last few days have been West Ham United - but the latest reports seem to indicate that the Hammers are out of the running.

West Ham priced out of Elliott move

talkSPORT claims Liverpool’s asking price is going to be too high for Graham Potter’s side - who could consider Morton as an alternative.

“West Ham face being priced out of a move for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott,” a report reads.

“The Hammers have held talks with Liverpool over England Under-21 hero Elliott, however, talkSPORT understands the Reds’ asking price of £40m-plus is likely to be too rich for the East Enders.

“In fact recently-appointed head of recruitment Kyle McCauley has already started working on a list of alternative options. These are thought to include Elliott’s Anfield teammate Tyler Morton and Manchester City’s James McAtee, although the latter is believed to favour a move abroad.”

Aston Villa now favourites for Elliott?

Liverpool are reported to be in contact with Aston Villa over a potential deal for Elliott - who has endeared himself to Liverpool fans during his time at the club.

If the Reds can get around £50m out of Villa for Elliott, that would represent very good business indeed and help secure the signing of a new player up front.
