Trent Alexander-Arnold ALREADY delivered harsh Real Madrid verdict
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been gifted his DREAM move to Real Madrid. The Liverpool homegrown talent was clearly intent on transferring to the Bernabeu - allowing a contract that was signed in 2021 to lapse this summer.
The Reds actually managed to make some money on his exit - around £8.4m - as Madrid were desperate to add him to the ranks for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Trent won it all throughout his time at Anfield - including two Premier League titles and the Champions League - but left under a cloud.

Fans were despondent that the vice-captain chose to slouch out of the club on a free transfer after being promoted to a leadership role under Jurgen Klopp. But if he thinks he’s going to have it all his own way in the Spanish capital then he’s sorely mistaken.
Salgado doubts Trent can win Carvajal battle
Although he’s got a good friend in Jude Bellingham by his side, the England international is going to be EXPOSED to the harsh criticisms of media and club legends alike.
With a perceived deficiency in his defensive capabilities, Trent is going to be under the microscope from minute one. And with Trent having to eventually replace a club legend in Dani Carvajal, the right-back is already fighting an uphill battle.
That became apparent over the weekend - without Trent even kicking a ball.
The annual Corazon Classic Match brought out all the stars for a legends match between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Among the participants was two-time Champions League winner right-back Michel Salgado.
'Carvajal is going to put up a fight'
The ex-Madrid right-back had some words of warning for Trent, conceding that while the Englishman had good offensive qualities he was going to be very much in a battle with Carvajal for the starting shirt.
Carvajal, 33, hasn’t played since October due to a serious knee injury but is on the comeback trail. He is not about to walk off into the sunset just yet - and Salgado is tipping the Spain international to prevail.
'No one more rounded than Carvajal'
“I like him — they’re completely different kinds of full-backs. This past year we really struggled in that position, but I don’t think there’s anyone on the market more well-rounded than Carvajal,” he said according to 20 Minutos.
“Trent is something different. Offensively, he’s better than he is defensively — we all know that — but maybe the combination of the two of them is the best pair of right-backs available right now.”
It has been suggested that Trent could perhaps be pushed forward into a midfield position, allowing Carvajal to play right-back. A combination of using the duo could be a compromise according to Salgado.

"Carvajal is going to put up a fight,” he said. “If people think it’s going to be easy for the kid to come in and start... Arnold can play in multiple positions depending on the system, and if you're looking for balance, the two could even complement each other.”
So there you have it Trent. Before you've even kicked a ball for the club, you're already on the back foot. Good luck, you're going to need it.
