€50m and he's yours: Liverpool could do deal for one of world's HOTTEST forwards
Liverpool spent big on new strikers last summer.
The sporting director Richard Hughes signed Alexander Isak for £125m and also completed a deal for Hugo Ekitike at £69m.
It’s fair to say the Premier League champions are still waiting to see the best of British-record signing Isak, who has scored only once since his deadline day move.
Ekitike meanwhile got his Anfield career off to a strong start but has faded in recent weeks.
Having those two on board means Arne Slot has got enviable quality but that hasn’t stopped links to other strikers.
Liverpool linked with Serhou Guirassy
With Isak unable to prove his fitness with any kind of reliability thus far - and Ekitike also capable of playing left-wing and No10 - there may well be an opportunity for another out-and-out striker to gain gametime for the Reds.
Accordingly the links have re-emerged with Serhou Guirassy - who the club looked at as an Isak alternative last summer.
Despite being a regular goalscorer for Borussia Dortmund since moving from Stuttgart back in 2024 the Guinea international looks set to be on the move in January.
Liverpool get Guirassy opportunity
Earlier this week we reported that Liverpool would have the “opportunity” to do a deal for the forward. And now according to a report from Caught Offside the 29-year-old has got a €50m release clause which is only available to a select band of clubs.
“Guirassy will have a €50m release clause in his Dortmund contract, which is only available to an unspecified select group of elite clubs,” the report reads.
While it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are among that number, there is no doubt that Guirassy would be a useful pick-up - particularly at that price.
Man Utd, Arsenal and PSG all interested
Manchester United and Arsenal could also move for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League joint-top goalscorer while Paris Saint-Germain are also credited with interest.
Guirassy was shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or due to his Dortmund exploits - for whom he has scored 45 goals in 65 matches.
Under contract until 2028 at the Westfalenstadion, Guirassy looks set to have one more big move in him.
Liverpool haven’t always been at their clinical best this season and could certainly benefit from having one of the world’s hottest strikers signed up.
