Liverpool are expected to conduct a significant overhaul of their playing squad this summer. Several star players could well be put up for sale in order to raise money for incoming deals.

Up front the likes of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez haven’t convinced as No9 options under Arne Slot. They could be moved on to make way for upgrades, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike reportedly on the list.

Meanwhile, the most solid transfer links over the last number of months have come with Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth.

The Hungarian is widely seen as the eventual successor to Andy Robertson, with the Liverpool legend having turned 31 and no longer looking the force he once was.

He has on occasion been rested as Arne Slot turns to Kostas Tsimikas instead but it’s apparent that the Reds need a long-term solution at left-back.

It's clear from Slot's usage of Robbo in recent months that the club are ready to move on sooner rather than later.

Robertson and Tsimikas under THREAT

Kerkez, 21, fits the bill and already knows sporting director Richard Hughes, who signed him from AZ while technical director for the Cherries.

And it is likely Kerkez could walk straight into a starting role next season with David Ornstein revealing that either Robertson or Tsimikas will be SOLD in order to make way for the former AC Milan youngster.

Discussing Liverpool targets for NBC over the weekend, the Athletic transfer supremo name-checked Kerkez but also added that Liverpool would again be operating on a one-in, one-out basis.

"Milos Kerkez, for example, at Bournemouth, but that would require one of Robertson or Tsimikas to depart,” he said.

But who should stay and who should go?

Robertson is under contract until 2026 and earns around £160,000 per week.

The wrong side of 30 and with only one year left on his deal, it’s unlikely the Reds could bank a sizeable fee for the Scotland captain but an exit would free up a hefty chunk of the salary budget. He is therefore under an immediate threat.

Tsimikas, 28, could probably bring in a better fee considering his age and the fact that his contract has TWO years to run. His deal costs the Reds around £80,000 per week.

Suitors for the Greek over the last few windows are reported to include Barcelona, Fulham and Olympiacos.

It remains to be seen which direction Hughes and Slot go in, but it's evident that neither Tsimikas nor Robertson can remain assured in their position.
