Liverpool back in for Serie A statistical MARVEL
Liverpool have been ripped to REVISIT their interest in a familiar target during the upcoming transfer window.
Despite securing the Premier League title, Arne Slot’s side are not standing still and making plans to improve the squad for next season.

One area in need of attention is midfield. Liverpool’s defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday saw Wataru Endo make only his first start of the season.

It was the first time during the Premier League season that Slot opted to pick a midfielder in the starting lineup aside from Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai or Curtis Jones.
The workload placed upon Liverpool’s midfielders this season across four competitions shows the necessity of adding top-quality options to the squad next season.
Gravenberch in particular has faded at times with the Dutchman dropping out of the team for the first time at the weekend.
Liverpool BACK for Frendrup
It’s why transfer links to central midfielders make sense - and one Serie A ball-winner is reportedly now back on the menu.
Last summer it was reported that Morten Frendrup of Genoa was of interest to the Reds ahead of Slot’s first season in charge.
No deal came to pass with the Denmark international opting to stay put, where he currently stars under Patrick Vieira in the Genoa midfield, wearing the captain’s armband over the last few weeks.
This season he has played 33 Italian top-flight games - scoring twice - and is a stats leader for tackles, interceptions and recoveries.
Frendrup a Serie A stats leader
He is in the 100th percentile for tackles won (60) and duels won (170) - as well as interceptions (46) according to FOTMOB.
The former Brondby player is also in the 100th percentile for recoveries (175) and possessions won in the final third (20) among other Serie A players in his position.
Frendrup is quite simply a ball magnet, with these stats demonstrating why Liverpool recruiters value him so highly.
He joined Genoa in 2022 and is under contract until 2028, with JuveFC now reporting that the club would accept an offer of €30 million to €35m.
Liverpool won’t have it all their own way however, with several rival sides listed as interested - including Juventus.
“Frendrup’s impressive displays in Serie A have not gone unnoticed across Europe,” the report states. “Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Brentford from England are also keen on the midfielder. Liverpool is seeking to bolster their ahead of next season, with manager Arne Slot reportedly considering Frendrup’s energetic and combative style as an ideal addition to his team.”
