Audacious £10m plan to REUNITE Mo Salah with former Liverpool ally

Liverpool cleared out several players last summer - including some Premier League title-winning stars moving on loan.

One player forced to seek first-team football elsewhere was Kostas Tsimikas. The “Greek Scouser” completed a one-season loan deal to join Roma in Serie A - with no option attached to the move.

It’s not been the easiest spell for the 29-year-old - who has found himself well down the pecking order under new Giallorossi head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

In fact it’s even been suggested that Tsimikas could return to Anfield ahead of schedule - cutting his loan deal short in January.

Roma plan audacious swoop for Salah

But now another report has emerged in La Repubblica which states that Tsimikas could be joined in Serie A by firm Liverpool friend Mo Salah.

A report in the Athletic a few weeks ago claimed that Salah lost a key dressing room ally and friend when Tsimikas joined Roma over the summer.

However the duo could be reunited in the Italian capital as Roma mull over a sensational loan deal for their former hero.

Salah, 33, joined Liverpool from Roma back in 2017 - where he enjoyed two spectacular seasons.

And despite the mammoth finances involved the Italian newspaper claims the idea is under consideration at Roma to bring Salah back.

Salah's Roma move would be a surprise

“Someone at Roma is actually toying with the idea of a sensational return for the Egyptian,” claims Giallorossi.net citing the La Repubblica report.

Salah’s salary would cause the Italians no end of trouble - given he makes around £400k per week - and Roman estimates are that it would require at least €12m (£10m) to get him on loan until the end of the season.

“A six-month loan deal alone would cost Roma around €12 million gross, a figure that makes the deal extremely complicated, if not prohibitive,” the report continues.

“The Egyptian's possible arrival would be a surprise, unplanned, and non-priority move.”

Salah is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations - following a very tense few weeks with his club. The forward was involved in a high-profile spat with Arne Slot owing to his bench role - leading to speculation that he could leave the club in January.

Salah is contracted to the Merseysiders until 2027 - but Liverpool may opt to cash in if they get the right offer from Saudi Arabia next summer. In the meantime this quixotic plan to reunite Salah with Tsimikas is under consideration.
