Mo Salah in talks for history-making €20m contract deal
Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool.
The Egyptian King signed for the Reds from Roma for around £37m back in 2017. Since then he has flourished into one of the greats of the modern game.
He won the Premier League twice throughout his time at Anfield and also played a key role in helping the Reds clinch the Champions League.
The 33-year-old has swept the board for team and individual honours - being named twice as the African footballer of the year.
But all good things must come to an end.
Salah has reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early - after signing a two-year extension in 2025.
A row with Arne Slot over his place in the lineup led to discussions with Richard Hughes over terminating his deal. And now Salah is in total control of his own future - following his final game in a Liverpool shirt on Sunday against Brentford.
And while Saudi Pro League clubs like Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah are reported to be keen on adding Salah to the ranks it appears the forward would prefer to stay in Europe for now.
Fenerbahce open talks with Salah
It’s being reported in the Turkish media that talks have begun between Salah and Fenerbahce over the terms of a summer arrival.
“Fenerbahce official Ertan Torunogullari has already held talks with the Egypt international regarding a potential move to Istanbul,” the report in İdman.Biz reads.
Salah’s salary demands have also been revealed by the report - with the left-footed attacker asking for €20m per season.
Although no duration of the contract has been reported it has previously been suggested that Salah was looking to secure a three-year deal.
Salah wants €20m per year
“Salah’s priority is said to be a transfer to Turkey despite receiving financially attractive offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia,” the report reads.
“The 33-year-old forward is believed to have asked for a yearly salary worth €20m, which would make him one of the highest-paid players in Turkish football history.”
If Salah doesn’t join Fenerbahce or a team in the Saudi Pro League then he may well end up in MLS.
San Diego FC are Egyptian-owned and are known to be keen on adding Salah - while Inter Miami may well make space to field Salah in a dream front three alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
