Liverpool star plans SENSATIONAL comeback after £40m signing
Andy Robertson has been at Liverpool since 2017 - playing a key role in the club’s successes under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
Robbo, signed from Hull City for around £8m, can go down as one of the club’s best-ever signings. Across almost 350 matches for the Anfield side, he’s won the Premier League twice, the Champions League and a host of other honours.

But time waits for no man and the 31-year-old now finds himself on the fringes of Slot’s first-team plans.

There were signs of discomfort last season - own goals, red cards and uncharacteristic errors - with Slot taking the opportunity to utilise Kostas Tsimikas more often.
Liverpool replace Robertson with Kerkez
It was decided that left-back was an area Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes needed to upgrade over the summer break. And he came back for an old favourite in the shape of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
The 21-year-old Hungary international came on board for a fee of around £40m - the second time Hughes had signed him following his acquisition by the then-Bournemouth technical director from AZ in 2023.
And Kerkez was given the Liverpool No6 shirt and immediately installed in the team. It was speculated that Robertson would LEAVE over the summer - with Atletico Madrid coming forward with interest.
In the end it was Tsimikas who left - meaning Robbo will battle it out with Kerkez for game time this term. Robertson admits getting used to life on the sidelines hasn’t been easy - but maintains that he will fight to earn his place back.
Robertson misses playing games
"I believe when we come back and we've got lots of games then hopefully that I can play more games," he tells the BBC.
"I've missed the feeling of playing games.
"I'm used to being a regular starter for so many years and it's been a bit difficult with the transition but I think I've dealt with it fairly well.
"I had a think about what I wanted to do and I came to the decision, committed to the decision and I'm happy to be there.
"We had options and we just worked through it as a family.
"Everything boiled down to that my heart was still in Liverpool and we wanted to stay. We're very settled there and we're at one of the biggest clubs in the world."
There will be opportunities
Robertson played a half hour of the opening Premier League fixture of the season - against Bournemouth - after Kerkez endured a difficult debut.
Minutes might be available in the weeks upcoming following the international window - when Liverpool’s schedule will expand.
This is the mightiest challenge of Robertson’s Liverpool career - who for so long had a lack of genuine competition in his position. With less than a year left on his contract, he may well be leaving in 2026 when his terms expire.
The new club vice-captain will be hoping to do so having displaced Kerkez as first-choice - however unlikely that might seem now.
