Liverpool know there IS a pathway to Michael Olise deal
Liverpool may take the decision to move on from Mohamed Salah in 2026. The Egyptian King signed a new contract towards the back end of last season - extending his terms by two further years.
Salah, 33, has now got a contract expiry of summer 2027 - following months of speculation when it seemed that Liverpool would lose him for nothing.
Renewing Salah’s deal not only ensured continuity on the right flank but also ensured that the Premier League champions might earn a fee if they decided to cut him loose before his contract runs out.
And Salah’s form at the start of the season could well be the beginning of the end. The two-time African player of the year has not been himself - in general play or in goals and assists.
Furthermore Salah is now on course to play TWO international tournaments in the next few months - AFCON across December and January and the World Cup in summer 2026.
That is a lot of football for the Liverpool legend - and for these reasons sporting director Richard Hughes might consider a sale of the £400k per week forward.
Olise the No1 pick to replace Salah
Galatasaray are on alert for Salah and he won’t be short of suitors in Saudi Arabia either. And if Liverpool do decide to move on from their greatest player of modern times then Michael Olise is one of the favourite names on the list to replace him.
Bayern Munich specialist Christian Falk has now revealed that the Reds are watching “closely” as the French international goes from strength to strength.
“Liverpool are watching Olise closely, with the Frenchman definitely high up on their wish list,” he writes on CF Bayern Insider.
However he also warns that Bayern are in a favourable position right now. Olise is contracted until 2029 - with plans to extend that by two further years. He also states there is NO release clause in the 23-year-old’s contract.
Bayern want new deal for Olise
Of course that means that Liverpool must break the bank once again to land a top target.
“Olise has a contract at Allianz Arena until 2029, and Bayern are already planning to offer him a lucrative new deal until 2031,” the report continues.
“Max Eberl has confirmed that Olise does not have a release clause in his contract at Bayern, meaning the German giants can set a high transfer fee for the attacker if Liverpool, Man City or Real Madrid come calling.”
Nonetheless there is reason to believe that the door could be open for the Reds - despite what Falk thinks.
A 'ridiculous' offer would land Olise
If there is no buyout fee set by Bayern then they are at risk of Olise running his deal down.
That in turn might embolden Liverpool - who had success in prising players out of the Bundesliga last summer in the shape of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike.
“The news will come as a blow for the Reds, as they will get the impression that Bayern are not going to sell him unless they receive a ridiculous offer,” the report states.
But Liverpool have shown they are willing to go to great lengths to land top stars - breaking the British transfer record for both Wirtz and Isak. If they want Olise they might have to do it all over again.
