18-year-old Premier League prodigy's agent arrives for Liverpool talks
Despite £450m worth of new signings in last summer’s transfer window it looks like Richard Hughes is gearing up for another campaign of spending.
Having added Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak on British record deals - as well as acquiring Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt - the middle of the Reds’ attack looks very different now than it did last season.
But the Premier League title-holders are ready to overhaul their wide options next summer - with the futures of Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa very much in doubt.
We could see improvements made to the squad on both sides of attack - where Arne Slot favourite Cody Gakpo has been far less effective this term.
And one player who could come in as a winger -as well as an attacking midfielder - is Mateus Mane.
Liverpool scouts blown away by Mateus Mane
The Wolves sensation, 18, only made his first Premier League start on December 27 against Liverpool at Anfield but has impressed plenty of top clubs - the Reds included.
Liverpool scouts were reported last week to have been blown away from what they’ve seen from the Portugal-born attacker - who moved to Wolves in 2024 from Rochdale.
He’s got a contract until 2029 but it would be no surprise to see Rob Edwards’ club cash in - especially as they are soon to be confirmed as relegated to the Championship.
Previous reports suggest that Liverpool would have to pay around £45m to £50m for an attacker described as “extraordinary”.
Mateus Mane agents have AXA Training Centre talks
And now DAVEOCKOP claims that the player’s representatives have been spotted at the AXA Training Centre as they plot their young client’s next move.
“The representatives of Wolves wonderkid Mateus Mane were recently at the AXA,” the report reads.
“It was not necessarily transfer talks, more just to get an understanding of the situation at the club amid a potential transfer.
“The representatives of Mane have been at top sides across the country to get a more holistic understanding of the levels of interest from the various parties, and it by no means suggests that Liverpool is now going to go all in for the 18-year-old.”
Mane has got two goals and two assists in his breakout campaign so far - and has been fielded by Wolves in attacking midfield as well as on the left wing.
He would be an exciting arrival at Anfield and we can see from the latest reports that perhaps the process to guarantee his signing has already begun.
