Luis Diaz endorses MAVERICK striker who WOWED Liverpool scouts
Luis Diaz has been a tremendously up and down character at Liverpool this season.
He started the campaign in the finest form of his life in a Liverpool shirt, scoring five goals in five games to start the season.

But since then there’s been a bit of a drop-off in form. It was only four in 16 games after that, all four of which came outside of the Premier League.
This can, in part, be attributed to the fact that Diaz has had to learn how to play centre-forward due to injuries and poor performances by others in Arne Slot’s system. And this past weekend against Tottenham he finally seemed to reap a reward with Diaz opening and closing the scoring in a 6-3 win.
In speaking to ESPN, Diaz explained the problem, saying “I didn't know much about the position, but we've been working on it for a month… and within what we work on in training with the instructions [Arne Slot] gives me, they help me a lot, it's been a bit complex, but I've been able to handle it, it's also given me the confidence that is super important.”
Luis Diaz sings Jhon Duran's praises
ESPN also asked Diaz about his Colombian international teammate and Liverpool-linked striker Jhon Duran, and he couldn’t have been more glowing about him.
“From the first day I met him, I dealt with him and I saw him play, I already knew the conditions and qualities he had," the Liverpool winger answered.
“First I said, 'If this kid wants to, he can become great, he can become history in the role he has, he can be the best striker.'
“I am very happy for him, we share a lot in the National Team, he is a very calm boy, who goes with the flow, who, if he has to listen, does so too, he is in the process of continuing to learn like any other boy, so, he will continue to improve in what remains of his career and he will continue to score goals…”
The pre-established relationship between the two is definitely an interesting aspect given Liverpool’s interest in the player. Duran is currently tearing up the Premier League, having displaced Ollie Watkins upfront for Aston Villa after a string of ridiculous goals.
The Reds initially wanted Duran back in MLS days for Chicago Fire with scouts assessing the Colombian, but missed out to the Midlands club for a fee of just £15m.
Liverpool have proven they are willing to pay the Premier League tax in the past also. The club acquired Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton in a deal worth up to £55m, and they gave Southampton £75m for Virgil van Dijk back in 2018.
Duran has seven league goals and three more in the Champions League so far this season. And at only 21, the best is yet to come.
Arne Slot could really put him to use in a Liverpool shirt.
